Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • ✓ Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • ✓ E-Collars
  • ✓ Food Rewards
  • ✓ Obstacle Courses

Group classes run once a week for eight weeks. STAR Puppy is for puppies under a year old, and the CGC Dog Obedience class is for dogs over eight months working toward becoming a Canine Good Citizen. An ongoing agility class is also offered for exercise and fun.

For more concentrated work there are private lessons, taught one on one with you and your family in your home or at her location; day training, where your dog stays with her while you are out and works on house manners and obedience; and a board and train program with a four week minimum that covers the basic commands, house manners, and public field trips, with four private lessons included.

Remote collar training is offered as its own program for off-leash freedom, also with four private lessons included, using Martin Systems and E-Collar Technologies equipment. Boarding is available to training clients. All of the premium programs start with a phone consultation and an evaluation.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

The STAR Puppy class and the CGC Dog Obedience class are each $400 for the eight week course. Agility is $20.

Boarding for training clients is $40. The premium programs – private lessons, day training, board and train, and remote collar training – are quoted after a free phone consultation and an evaluation, so the plan fits the dog.

Policies

Intake forms and a training agreement are required before working together, with separate agreements for board and train and for boarding. The board and train program asks for a real commitment from the family to follow the program at home.

Boarding drop-off is after 7pm the night before or the day of by appointment, and pick-up is between 7am and 9am Monday through Friday; a later pick-up is charged for the day. Weekend drop-offs and pick-ups are by appointment and carry an extra fee.

About the Trainer

A Dogs Life Training and Education is owned and run by Jackie Frascatore, a dog trainer working out of El Paso, Texas. Jackie is also an Army veteran and a nurse, and dogs have been part of her life since she was a kid bringing home strays to feed and teach.

Her training is built on a balanced, marker-based system she learned as a graduate of the NePoPo Gold School, where she trained under Bart Bellon and Michael Bellon. The dog learns what to do first, clearly and confidently, and corrections only come into it once the dog understands the behavior. She is also a certified remote collar trainer, and she is clear that remote collar work is layered in after the behavior is learned, never used to teach it.

The practical side is where she puts the emphasis: clear step-by-step guidance, tools you can actually use to communicate with your dog, and enough structure and accountability to keep you consistent. Her own way of putting it is that the concept is simple and the consistency is the hard part, and that is the part she helps with.

Once you train with her you are treated as part of the family. Follow-up work for past clients is offered at a heavily discounted rate, and she asks people to call her when something comes up rather than let it slide.

Accomplishments

Jackie is a graduate of the NePoPo Gold School, where she trained under Bart Bellon and Michael Bellon, and is a certified remote collar trainer. She has studied a range of training methods, attended seminars with top trainers, and read into animal behavior, psychology, and neuroscience. She is an Army veteran and a nurse.
