About the Trainer

Blue Ridge Dog Training Club (BRDTC) is a community-based dog training organization founded in 1967 that offers group training classes for dogs and owners of all experience levels. Located at the Sportsplex in Winchester, VA, BRDTC provides a wide range of positive reinforcement-based classes including Puppy Obedience, Beginner through Competition-level Obedience, Rally, Agility, Tricks, and Canine Good Citizen (CGC)/Therapy Dog Preparation. Classes are designed to build strong human-dog partnerships with structured progression from foundational skills to competitive-level performance. The club also sponsors AKC obedience and agility trials, run-thrus, workshops, and seminars throughout the year, fostering a supportive environment for competitive and recreational dog sports. All classes are held in a dedicated training facility and are open to the public, not just members.

BRDTC emphasizes positive training methods and offers a clear, prerequisite-based class ladder to help dogs and handlers advance systematically. They support dogs from puppyhood through senior years and cater to a variety of breeds and sizes, with specialized pathways for agility, obedience competition, and therapy work. Their long-standing history and active involvement in AKC events make them a trusted local resource for dog training and sports.

In addition to group classes, BRDTC offers opportunities for members to reserve the training room and access newsletters and member-only resources. They also host events like agility run-thrus and make-up weeks to accommodate busy schedules.

Accomplishments
