Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
In-home training brings the trainer into your dog’s everyday environment, which is where the real triggers are. It covers obedience, house manners and behavior work, and it teaches the whole household to respond the same way.
Board and train gives your dog an immersive stay with daily hands-on sessions. The program is structured around your training goals rather than a fixed number of weeks, and it finishes with in-home follow-up sessions so the results carry over.
Puppy training is offered in both formats and starts with house manners, crate training, leash skills and calm behavior around the family, then adds real-world distractions as the puppy grows.
Behavior modification is the core of the practice: aggression toward dogs or people, handler and barrier aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety, fear-based behaviors, door bolting and socialization struggles.
Protection dog training covers alert and deterrent dogs, personal and family protection, and estate or compound protection. Protection dog sourcing is available, and an additional assessment is required.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
Brown K9 prices by outcome, not by the hour. Packages are quoted for an agreed end result, so what takes one dog four weeks and another eight costs the same, and the training continues until the goal is met.
Rates are not published because they depend on your dog’s age, the behavior involved and how much work it needs. Pricing is quoted during a free consultation, and Brown K9 will send a trainer out at no charge to make the assessment.
About the Trainer
Brown K9 is a mobile dog training company serving Northern Utah, bringing training to your door across Davis, Weber and Morgan counties. The team is Nick and Grace Brown, and their packages are built around an agreed end result rather than an hourly clock: training continues until the goal is met and you can hold the results yourself.
Aggression rehabilitation is the specialty. Brown K9 works with reactive and aggressive dogs both at home and in public, and takes on cases where earlier training did not stick, alongside everyday problems like leash pulling, barking, jumping, nipping, counter surfing, door bolting, resource guarding and separation anxiety.
Programs run in your home or through board and train, and both end the same way: follow-up sessions in the house and in real-world settings so the training transfers to daily life and you can keep it going. Puppy work starts with house manners, crate training and leash skills, then layers in distractions as the puppy gains confidence.
Brown K9 also trains and sources personal, family and estate protection dogs, from alert and deterrent work through full personal protection. Protection candidates go through an additional assessment first, because not every dog has the temperament for it.
Accomplishments
Nick Brown is a Certified PSA (Protection Sports Association) Decoy and specializes in complex behavior cases including aggression and reactivity. He has earned both legs of his PSA2 title with his dog Argos and is working toward PSA3. He is also a Certified AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and a NePoPo Silver School graduate.
Grace Brown handles the office and trains as well. She competed with her late dog Goose in PSA and earned a PSA-PDC title, and she has since earned a PSA-PDC with her dog Juniper, with a PSA1 title in progress. She came to dog training from years working with animals, including training horses, which built her eye for body language and clear communication.
Brown K9 holds a 4.9 star rating from 52 Google reviews.
