Dog Training Methodology
Private lessons are the most hands-on option: you work with your dog and the trainer to learn skills and the reasons behind them. They are the best fit for dogs with reactivity, fear, or aggression that need a distraction-free setting.
Day training runs Monday through Friday on an individual plan with structured training, rest, and enrichment, plus daily photo and video updates and an end-of-day debrief. Graduates can move up to Adventure Dog day training, with hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, patio visits, and practice around people and other dogs.
Board and train programs run a minimum of two weeks and include two private lessons for the owner handoff. Home-based boarding is available for dogs comfortable in a home, and workshops in scent work, agility, and mondioring are planned.
Pricing & Policies
Pricing Summary
Private lessons are $125 each, $345 for three, or $500 for five. Day training is $75 per day or $350 for a five-day package.
A two-week board and train is $2,500. Boarding is $59 per night.
Policies
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before a session are not refunded, and no-shows are not refunded. Dogs must be current on core vaccinations and must not attend while sick.
Owners must share any history of biting or serious aggression before training starts. A dog with a bite history must be cleared by a Good Sport trainer before joining group activities.
Testimonials
“Agnesa is an amazing trainer! She will be caring and compassionate in her approach to training your dog, and she will teach you all of the skills you need to continue working with your dog at home. She is extremely knowledgeable and will break down your dog’s behaviors and body language to help you understand what they are communicating. Agnesa has truly been a lifesaver for my dog, Indy, and I. I cannot express how thankful I am to work with her as a trainer. She will be an invaluable resource to you and your dog. I highly recommend working with her!”
– Lindsay of Chambersburg, PA
“Can’t recommend Agnesa enough! She has an amazing understanding of dog behavior. Extremely professional and is dedicated to whatever the end goal is. She makes training fun and has tons of equipment for all types of sports.”
– Kirsten of Martinsburg, WV
“Agnesa (and her husband Alex) were incredible with our 4‑month‑old Rottie, Kota. From the moment we spoke before booking, I knew she truly cared. She asked thoughtful questions, explained her routine, and made sure Kota had everything she needed. The daily updates and gorgeous photos made us feel so comfortable while we were away. Kota was clearly loved and well cared for. We appreciate them so much and will definitely be booking again.”
– Sarah of Martinsburg, WV
About the Trainer
Good Sport Dog Training is a Martinsburg, West Virginia business run by Agnesa Redere. She trains dogs for everyday life, dog sports, and adventure, with the goal of a confident dog who can handle new places, people, and distractions.
Her training pairs positive reinforcement with structure and clear, consistent feedback, and every plan is built around the individual dog. Private lessons suit dogs working through reactivity, fear, or aggression, while day training and board and train let the trainer do the daily work.
Good Sport also offers home-based boarding, community group hikes with professional photos, and a three-acre field with agility and protection sport equipment for rent through Sniffspot. Agnesa competes in dog sports with her own dogs and brings a science background to how she reads behavior.
Accomplishments
Agnesa has competed in dog sports with her own dogs and pairs that experience with a background in science. She once took a severely fearful puppy through an eight-week board and train when behavioral euthanasia was on the table, and he came out able to handle busy public places with confidence.
How to Get Started!
Call (973) 506-9239 or use the contact form on the Good Sport website to ask about private lessons, day training, or board and train. The first session covers your goals and your dog’s history before moving into hands-on training.
In Their Own Words
Their Training Philosophy
I believe dogs learn best when they feel safe, understand what’s expected of them, and have clear, consistent feedback.
My approach combines positive reinforcement with structure and accountability, helping dogs build skills they can rely on in real life. I also think good training starts with understanding the individual dog: their temperament, motivations, strengths, and challenges. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, so I adapt my training to the dog in front of me and the life their person wants to share with them.
Ultimately, I want to help people build a relationship with their dogs that’s rooted in trust, clear communication, and the confidence to tackle life’s adventures together.
A Tough Case They Solved
Over the course of an 8-week board and train, I took an extremely fearful puppy who was exploring aggression in the home, and turned him around to be resilient to stress, and to be able to handle outings in busy places with confidence and connection with his handler. I do not normally offer an 8-week board and train (my board and trains are typically done in 2-week increments). However, this case was severe enough that behavioral euthanasia was on the table, and I was this puppy’s last chance.
The majority of my clients these days aren’t so severe, but that experience left me with a much deeper understanding of behavior cases that I apply to many cases I see today.
What New Clients Can Expect
Our first session is all about getting to know you and your dog, understanding what you’d like to work toward, and figuring out where to start. We’ll talk through your goals, your dog’s personality and history, and what life looks like day to day before getting to work on practical skills. You can expect hands-on training, clear explanations of why we’re doing what we’re doing, and guidance on how to practice between sessions. I want you to leave feeling like you have a better understanding of your dog and a clear plan for moving forward, not just a list of things to work on. Training should make everyday life with your dog easier and more enjoyable, and we’ll build toward that one step at a time.
More From the Trainer
I bring a mix of real-world dog training experience and a background in science, which means I care about both understanding why dogs behave the way they do and finding practical solutions that work outside a training session. I’ve spent years living and working with dogs of different temperaments, drives, and motivations, including dogs that I’ve competed with in dog sports. Whether your goal is to have a more relaxed companion, feeling confident taking your dog on adventures, or exploring a new sport together, I want to help you build the skills to get there. I believe in meeting each dog where they are while still giving them the structure and guidance they need to succeed. Every dog should be a Good Sport, and training should help you and your dog enjoy more of life together.
I also provide boarding and pet photography services, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re interested!
