About the Trainer

K-9 Kollege Dog Training has been running group-style dog obedience classes in Springfield, Ohio since 1986. Owner and instructor Marilyn Snyder built the school around the idea that a trained dog stays a valued member of the family instead of being given up over bad behavior, and the classes welcome both new dog owners and experienced handlers.

Puppy Plus is built for puppies from 8 weeks to 5 months and covers sit, down, and come along with housebreaking and crate training tips, biting and mouthing, and body-awareness activities. Beginning Obedience, for dogs 5 months and older, works on handler focus, sit-stay, down-stay, leave-it, leash walking, and stand. Advanced Obedience 1 and 2 carry dogs into off-leash handling, distance work, distractions, retrieving, and drop on recall.

For behavior problems that group class does not solve, Marilyn offers Special Issues Counseling, one-on-one sessions built around the individual dog and worked at the client’s home or an agreed public location. She also teaches Reactive Dog, Agility, and Dog Trick classes.

Marilyn holds a B.S. in Education and has competed and instructed in dog agility since 1994, earning the AKC Master Agility Champion title and the USDAA Agility Dog Champion title. As a fifth-generation Springfielder, she has stayed active in the local community throughout the school’s history.

Classes run at Heritage Park and the Clark County Fairgrounds Annex Building in Springfield, using motivational, user-friendly methods aimed at building a dog’s confidence and social skills alongside its handler.
