Dog Training Methodology

Methods: 

  • Balanced Training

Puppy Class: A four week class on Tuesdays from 7:30pm – 9:00pm. It covers socialization, bite inhibition, soft mouth behavior, household manners, and proper kennel usage, laying the foundation for an obedient and well-mannered canine companion.

Basic Class: A four week class offered on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. It uses correction, guidance, and praise to introduce essential everyday commands. Topics include canine characteristics, proper equipment use, common training mistakes, avoiding behavioral problems, house breaking, destruction of property, and importance of proper kennel usage.

Intermediate Class: A four week class on Thursdays from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. This class introduces off-leash work, team coordination, and advanced commands, enhancing basic skills. Completion of the Basic Class is required.

Advanced Class: A four week structured class on Thursdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm for dogs without aggression issues. It focuses on advancing off-leash and gesture-only techniques.

Maintenance Class: A class held two times a month on Thursdays from 7:00pm-8:00pm, designed for teams who want to maintain their skills. Call for more information.

K9 Academy boasts 25 years of K9 training experience, providing consistently great results across an encompassing range of training cases. They operate from a large, dedicated 25,000 sq ft facility in Taylor, Michigan, which was previously an elementary school, with 10 acres of surrounding land. This facility is fitted with the necessary space, equipment, and knowledge for a great training experience. They bring extensive, award-winning experience from law enforcement and security canine handling and training.
