Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • Food Rewards
  • Flat Collars
  • E-Collars

Three ways to train. Board and train programs run three to four weeks and are the most popular option: dogs build leash walking skills, sit and down stays, place command, and manners, with lots of outings in new environments and lessons for the owners during the dog’s stay. One-on-one private lessons are taught in the client’s own home, with the goal of teaching owners how to communicate with their dog in everyday life. Behavior consultations are available by phone or in person for a specific problem.

Puppies can start as young as eight weeks. For puppies under five months, Jenna recommends beginning with in-home lessons to lay the foundation. Behavioral programs for reactivity, resource guarding, biting, and confidence building are tailored to the individual dog after an in-person evaluation.

Testimonials

Our dog, Cody, spent 3 weeks with Jenna. He’s a big boy. 100 lbs and is very strong. A lot for me to handle on walks and was being a big bully to our other dog in the house. He just came home and I am amazed at how much he has changed. He walks beautifully on our walks now, right by my side and doesn’t pull me. He doesn’t bother my other dog at all. A lot less barking at people or dogs walking by the house. I am so happy we used Kremps K9 Training. So so worth it to have a dog to really enjoy now rather than dread walking every day to be pulled around the block and also not have to think that we may need to give him up because he wasn’t getting along with my other dog. Thank you Jenna!! You are a miracle worker!!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Jenna and Kremp’s K9 Training. Our reactive rescue Cameron spent four weeks in a board and train program with Jenna and the results have been fantastic. From the moment I first reached out to Jenna for help she has been nothing but professional and kind. She took the time to get to know us and Cameron through phone calls and an in-home evaluation and I can tell that she really cares about each dog that she trains. Jenna worked with Cameron on his fear based aggression and guarding issues and also with us as a family so that we could continue and reinforce his training now that he is home. During his stay with Jenna, we received many updates on Cameron in the form of pictures, videos and text updates. It was very reassuring to see him doing well. His progress has been remarkable and we couldn’t be happier. We are very grateful to Jenna for her training and continuous follow up for Cameron. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a dog trainer.
– Client

Blown away is an understatement. The training and obedience that my dogs received from Jenna is incredible. She not only trained them to be the best trained dogs I’ve ever had but she also took care of them like they were her own during their 3 week training camp. I could not recommend Kremp’s training more! The time away from my babies and every penny spent was beyond worth it!

About the Trainer

Kremp’s K9 Training is a dog training business in Brick Township, New Jersey, owned and run by Jenna Kremp. She works with families in Brick and the surrounding Ocean and Monmouth County towns.

Jenna describes her approach as fair but balanced. She teaches every new behavior with food first, so the dog gets a clear picture of what to do, then layers in leash guidance once the dog knows the verbal commands. From there she proofs the behavior against the three D’s – distance, duration, and distraction – so it holds up in the real world rather than only in the living room.

Board and train is the most popular option. Dogs stay three to four weeks and build a foundation of leash walking, sit and down stays, place command, and everyday manners, with plenty of outings in new environments. Owner lessons are included during the stay, because the training only lasts if the family knows how to follow through.

She also teaches one-on-one private lessons in the client’s own home, runs puppy programs for dogs as young as eight weeks, and takes on behavior work for reactivity, resource guarding, biting, and confidence building. Behavioral programs are tailored to the individual dog after an in-person evaluation.

Jenna’s background with animals is hands-on. She spent seven years in veterinary medicine, everything from monitoring vitals under surgery to reading animal behavior, and completed three years of shadow programs under experienced trainers. Her start was with horses – therapeutic riding with special needs children and teaching lessons at a hunter/jumper farm – before she moved into dog training.

How to Get Started!

Start with a phone call to talk through your goals and your dog’s issues. Jenna then schedules a free in-person evaluation at the dog’s home so she can see the behavior firsthand and build the program that fits. Call or text 848-444-3905 to set it up.

In Their Own Words

Their Training Philosophy

I believe that dogs learn through positive pictures and guidance. Showing them how to be successful first, then holding them accountable. Taking a fair but balanced approach for a lasting positive impression.

I always start out with using food to show the dog each new behavior. Once the dog has verbal commands I then overlay those behaviors with leash guidance. We then move to the 3 D’s, distance, duration, distractions, to make sure the dog can be successful in the real world. The most important step is teaching the owners how to follow through with the training as well.

A Tough Case They Solved

A moment in my dog training journey was a dog named Piper. She had a bite history due to reactivity on the leash. Her family was at a loss while dealing with a lawsuit because of it.

Watching Piper gain better leash skills and more confidence has given her family the perfect companion they could have asked for with no more stress.

What New Clients Can Expect

I typically do an initial phone call to discuss goals and issues. I’m a big advocate in putting a face to a name and meeting the client before we pick a program for their dog.

I schedule an in-person evaluation at the dog’s home and see issues and create a program for their dog that works best.
