About the Trainer

Matt Trains K9s is a dog training business led by Matt Jaramillo, who has been passionately involved with dogs since childhood, starting with his own Lab, Benny. Matt transitioned into professional dog training in 2015, gaining extensive experience in various dog-related fields including training, daycare, boarding, grooming, protection, and decoy work.

The business offers one-on-one training for a range of needs, including behavior modification, puppy classes, sport and personal protection training, and basic to advanced off-leash obedience. Matt’s training philosophy emphasizes clear communication combined with clear boundaries to foster happy, well-trained dogs.

Matt is supported by his own dogs, Sidney and Hela, who are Dutch Shepherds trained in personal protection. Hela is an accomplished dog, having won first place in a K9 Street League trial for High Obedience and High Protection. Sidney and Hela also assist in lessons to help proof other dogs’ obedience around distractions.

Accomplishments

Matt Jaramillo began his full-time career in dog training in 2015. He is certified as a PSA and K9 Street League decoy and has experience selling dogs into law enforcement. Matt has trained countless pet and companion dogs. His dog, Hela, achieved first place in the second K9 Street League trial, earning high obedience and high protection scores.
