Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Playful Pup Dog Training offers several group classes. Puppy Preschool is an ongoing class for puppies under 14 weeks, focusing on relationship building, age-specific issues like crate training and jumping, and socialization. Polite Manners is designed for older puppies and adolescents but is suitable for all ages, covering sit, down, stay, leave it, come, leash skills, and polite greetings, with dogs working at their own pace. Messing About / Tricks and Games is a fun class for all ability levels, including agility, tricks, and obedience games. Walk About classes practice leash walking and attention skills in Montpelier and Hubbard Park, and are not for reactive dogs unless pre-approved.

They also host play groups for dogs with strong social skills in a 3-acre fenced-in yard, separated by size (small, medium, large dogs). Private lessons are currently only available to students enrolled in their classes.
