Pleasantview Labradors

Pleasantview Labradors is a small hobby kennel in South Riding, Virginia, specializing in breeding English-style Labrador Retrievers with a focus on health, temperament, and conformation to the AKC breed standard. The breeders, Doug and Michele Burton, raise puppies in their home with individual and group socialization, exposing them to household environments, children, appliances, car rides, and outdoor settings.

Puppies are health-tested for genetic disorders, receive vet checks, vaccinations, wormings, and are microchipped before leaving at 8 weeks. While the business primarily focuses on breeding, the emphasis on early socialization, temperament selection, and adherence to breed standards supports foundational training readiness.

The kennel’s dogs compete in AKC conformation and NACSW scent detection, indicating a strong foundation in working ability and obedience. Training support is implied through responsible breeding practices rather than direct training services.

Accomplishments

The breeders’ dogs have earned multiple AKC championships and grand champion titles, including Best of Breed, Best of Winners, and Sporting Group placements. Parent dogs are OFA-certified for hips and elbows, cleared for genetic diseases, and have earned titles in conformation and scent work. The kennel is founded on pedigrees from Epoch and Banner Labradors, with documented health testing and show records.

How to Get Started!

Prospective buyers must contact Doug Burton via email or phone to inquire about availability, as litters are rare and produced only when the breeders intend to keep a puppy. Adoption is limited to approved homes with a focus on long-term compatibility and breed preservation.
