Ringneck Country

Ringneck Country offers multiple options for dog training. Individuals can use their grounds to train their own dogs, with the option of using wild or liberated birds provided by the facility.

Alternatively, Ringneck Country offers a complete training regimen designed to increase a dog’s chances for field success. They specialize in Vizsla training for upland hunting but train all breeds. Most dogs participate in a 30-60 day training program.

Rex Murray prefers to get dogs around 10 months old but will take them at any age, preferring high-energy dogs. Training begins with exposure to gun and game birds.

Pointing breeds are trained to point and hold steady, while flushing breeds are trained to find and flush birds. After a basic program, an advanced program can be started, including honoring, hunting dead, and quartering.

Upon completion, owners can work with Murray and receive a video for later use, especially helpful for distant clients whose dogs are flown in for training. A full and accurate history of the dog is important before starting a program, as most problems are considered “man made” and can be fixed.
