Rising Sun Canine Training

Rising Sun Canine Training works through private lesson plans rather than board and train. The 6-week plan is built around puppies and the basics: potty training, basic commands, manners, leash manners, impulse control, social skills, and common puppy behaviors like jumping, barking, and chewing.

The 8-week plan covers basic commands and manners such as sit, stay, come, and heel, with sessions customized to the dog in front of them. The 12-week plan is the most comprehensive, adding manners for the home and for guests along with calm, positive behavior in public.

Sessions run one per week and can be held at the client’s home, at a location that suits the dog, or at the Rising Sun training facility in Marion. Every session teaches the handler as well as the dog, and household structure is the first thing they work on, because it is what changes a dog fastest. Aggression and anxiety cases are a particular focus, and both balanced training and force-free, purely positive training are available.

Pricing Summary

Rising Sun Canine Training prices its private lesson plans as follows: the 6-week lesson plan is $500, the 8-week plan is $600, and the 12-week plan is $700. Free consultations are offered on site at their training facility. Board and train programs are no longer offered.

The business offers professional dog training in private lessons, in the client’s home, and at their training facility in Marion, emphasizing a caring but firm approach to pet ownership and training. Lead trainer Austin Todd specializes in aggression and anxiety cases, and the team works in both balanced training and force-free, purely positive training depending on what the dog and the owner need.

Board and train programs are not offered. They also sell a wide range of pet essentials, including nutritious food, engaging toys, stylish accessories, and health supplements.

Rising Sun Canine Training focuses on personalized training programs, acknowledging that every dog has unique personality, learning style, and behavioral quirks. Their view is that dog training is more about teaching people than teaching the dog: owners first learn how to tell a dog it has done the right thing, then are walked through every skill the dog has been taught and have to perform it themselves before the session ends. They believe a tailored approach enhances the bond between owners and their pets, leading to a well-trained and happy dog.
