Board-and-train takes place in a home-style setting rather than a facility, with daily photo and video updates that ease the separation for owners, plus a hands-on introduction to any training tools before they’re used. Graduates can also tap into an ongoing “Freedom Plan,” calling on the team for brush-ups and guidance long after the formal program ends.

Our Take

The Dog Wizard Georgetown works with dogs across the city, from busy sidewalks and crowds to construction noise and traffic, taking on cases other trainers turned away or couldn’t finish. The location is co-owned and operated by Amanda Becker and Bryan Krinzman, who moved into dog training after nearly 35 combined years in human resources and a lifelong love of animals, including their own mini-goldendoodle Teddy Bear.

Both are Advanced Dog Wizard Certified Trainers who opened the Chantilly location first, in June 2023, before adding Tysons Corner and Georgetown. Board and train takes place in a home-style setting instead of a facility, with daily photo and video updates sent to owners during the stay and a hands-on walkthrough of any training tools before they’re used on a dog.

Graduates can call on the team long after the program ends through an ongoing Freedom Plan for brush-ups and guidance. Trainer Autumn Bowen is active in AKC dog sports and focuses on early socialization and proper handling for well-rounded, confident dogs.
