About the Trainer

Lee Charles Kelley has been training dogs in New York City since 1989, beginning after his dog Charley became famous as “Charley the Bubble Eating Dog” on Late Night With David Letterman. He initially trained using dominance methods but switched to positive reinforcement, which he found ineffective, and later adopted Natural Dog Training—a drive-based method used for police and military dogs. His approach focuses on understanding a dog’s natural drives to create lasting behavioral change.

He provides dog training services tailored to individual dogs and their owners, emphasizing practical, real-world results through drive-based techniques. His experience spans decades and includes working with dogs exhibiting complex behaviors, making him a resource for owners seeking alternatives to conventional positive reinforcement methods.

Accomplishments

Trained dogs since 1989; his dog Charley was featured on Late Night With David Letterman as “Charley the Bubble Eating Dog,” bringing public attention to his training methods.
