Top Gun K9 Training and Breeding

Basic Obedience Training is a private, 8-week course teaching heel, sit, sit-stay, down, down-stay, recall, and correcting behavior issues such as jumping on people or chasing cars and other pets. It is also offered as a 5-week board and train option, where the dog boards on-site and trains daily, followed by two sessions with the owner to go over the methods used.

Advanced Training teaches off-leash skills and is available once a dog has completed the basic obedience course, with time needed varying by dog.

Service dog training covers basic obedience, behavior modification, and work for the disabled community, including emotional support dogs and training tailored to a handler’s specific needs.

Boarding is available for large and small breeds, with smaller dogs kept inside the home and larger dogs given time inside when space allows, plus daily exercise and attention from the family. Kennels include a fan and heat lamp or indoor AC and heat, an automatic watering system, and shelter.

Pricing Summary

Basic Obedience Training is $800 for the 8-week private course. The 5-week board and train version is also $800 plus boarding at $20 per day, or $25 per day for a climate controlled kennel. Boarding alone (without training) is $20 per day, or $25 per day for a climate controlled kennel.

Pricing for Advanced Training is determined after a dog completes the Basic Obedience course.

Policies

Boarding clients are required to provide their own pet’s food. Pets should be up to date on all vaccinations before boarding, and should have nails trimmed and be treated with flea and tick prevention.

Top Gun K9 Training and Breeding is a family-run operation in Hollister, Florida led by Cherie Evans, with her father and founder A.P. Bailey still involved in training. They offer private obedience training, advanced off-leash training, service dog training, dog boarding, and breeding of German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers.

Their training is built on a behavior modification method that A.P. Bailey learned during 30 years as a law enforcement K-9 trainer and handler, including US Customs narcotic detection training. The approach works with a dog’s natural drive and instinct to correct behavior problems rather than fight against them, and the business focuses on herding and sporting breeds.

The basic obedience course runs eight weeks in private sessions and covers heel, sit, sit-stay, down, down-stay, recall, and common behavior issues like jumping on people or chasing cars and other pets. A five-week board and train version is also available, where the dog stays and trains daily, followed by two sessions with the owner to learn the training methods used. Advanced training builds on basic obedience to teach off-lead skills.

Top Gun also trains service dogs for people with disabilities, including emotional support dogs, tailored to the handler’s specific needs. Boarding is available for dogs of any size, with an exercise yard, daily attention from the family, and both standard and climate controlled kennels.

The business is available for consultation Monday through Saturday and serves clients in and around Hollister, Florida looking for hands-on obedience training, service dog work, boarding, or a German Shepherd or Labrador puppy from tested bloodlines.

Accomplishments

Founder A.P. Bailey has more than 40 years of experience training dogs, including 30 years training and handling dogs for law enforcement before retiring. He attended multiple training schools over his career, including the US Customs narcotic detection method.
