Testimonials
Best experience anywhere with our Cattle dog puppy. She earned her CGC also. Highly recommend this organization. Brenda was our instructor. Plan to return with our new Cattle dog girl.

Wonderful group of ladies with years of experience. Not only do they teach a wonderful class but they also help with individual dogs and their issues. Have used this group with two different dogs. In all have taken 5 separate classes.

Kylie and I had a very positive experience in the OC of A fall 2019 class!! Kylie was rescued in April of this year. She was 9 months old then. She has issues of trust with both people and dogs. The club members worked with those issues in mind. So in the 6 months we have had her the classes helped in moving her progress in trust forward. But, even more importantly, it strengthened the bond between us. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. Thanks to Colleen and everyone who helped with the class.

About the Trainer
The Obedience Club of Asheville is a volunteer-driven, non-profit dog training organization founded in the late 1970s and licensed by the American Kennel Club since 1981. They offer affordable, group obedience classes to the public, including Puppy/Beginner and Adult/Advanced sessions that teach basic commands, leash walking, sit, down, stay, and recall. The Adult/Advanced class prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, which is administered at the end of the session. Instructors are experienced unpaid club members who provide personalized support for dogs with trust issues, reactivity, or behavioral challenges. The club donates all profits above operating costs to dog-related charities, including dog food for Meals on Wheels clients.
Classes are held at the Fairview Community Center in Fairview, NC, and are designed for all dog ages and sizes. The club encourages community involvement and offers a Club Class for members interested in competition training. Their focus is on building a strong bond between handler and dog through positive, consistent training methods.
Accomplishments
The club has been continuously offering obedience training since the late 1970s and has been AKC-licensed since 1981. They host an annual AKC all-breed obedience trial in November, awarding ribbons, trophies, and cash prizes. They are recognized for helping dogs earn the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification.
