Testimonials

I trained my old dog 11 years ago here and she turned it so amazing I brought my new puppy here. Lauren is still amazing at training puppies and Kara has been awesome as well! Highly recommended!

ABRT has great trainers and staff. I’ve taken several classes there and loved the total recall class, canine connection, and nose work. I volunteer as a “neutral human” and also with my dog Sofie, who provides a “neutral dog” for sessions with reactive dogs. An added bonus: the money you spend on classes is going to a non-profit!

Our puppy has taken 3 training classes at ABRT! All of the trainers we have had have been so knowledgeable and helpful! It is a breath of fresh air to have affordable training classes. We are grateful for all we have learned and how much ABRT loves dogs!!

About the Trainer

All Breed Rescue & Training (ABRT) is a nonprofit dog rescue and training organization based in Colorado Springs, founded in 1994. They provide relationship-based, positive reinforcement training for dogs of all ages and skill levels, from puppy socialization to advanced competition sports like agility, nosework, rally, and conformation. ABRT’s trainers are certified and focus on building trust, communication, and confidence between dogs and their owners. Their 98% adoption success rate reflects the effectiveness of their methods. All adoptable dogs live in foster homes, not at the facility, and adopters receive a free training class and ongoing email/phone support for the dog’s lifetime. Training classes are open to the public, not just adopters, and include beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. ABRT also offers a Service Dog Owner Trainer Academy and a recognized Therapy Dog Troupe certified by the AKC.

ABRT is committed to community education and responsible pet ownership, offering programs like Puppy Raising 101, Control Unleashed for anxious dogs, and Canine Good Citizen preparation. Their training philosophy emphasizes science-backed, reward-based methods with no use of punishment or aversive tools. They also provide behavior modification for issues like reactivity, fearfulness, and separation anxiety, and host community events and volunteer opportunities.

As a 501(c)(3), all training fees support their rescue mission, helping at-risk dogs in the Pikes Peak region who are often overlooked by other shelters due to behavioral or medical challenges.

Accomplishments

Winner of “Best of the Springs” Gold for Dog Trainers (2014–2025), Gold for Nonprofit (2024), and Bronze for Pet Rescue (2014–2025). Recognized by the American Kennel Club for their Therapy Dog Troupe. Platinum Transparency rating with Candid GuideStar. Licensed by PACFA. Trainers are members of professional organizations including AKC, APDT, IAABC, and IACP.
