About the Trainer
All Breed Training Club of Akron (ABTCA) is a nonprofit dog training club founded in 1949 that offers group training classes for dogs of all breeds and ages. They specialize in positive reinforcement methods and provide structured programs from Puppy I through Obedience III, as well as specialized classes like Agility, Rally, Tricks, Pawsitive Reactions (for reactivity), and Canine Good Citizen/Therapy Dog preparation. All classes require club membership, which grants access to discounted rates through volunteering and a community of dog owners sharing resources, events, and dog sports opportunities. ABTCA emphasizes building strong handler-dog bonds through consistency, patience, and fun. They also host trials, run-throughs, and social events like awards banquets and member picnics.
The club is committed to making training affordable and accessible, with low-cost classes and a focus on community involvement. Members can participate in dog sports beyond the club’s offerings, such as herding, dock diving, and tracking, through peer networks. ABTCA is an AKC-affiliated organization and was awarded the 2025 AKC Public Education Award.
All training occurs at their facility located at 229 E. Howe Rd, Tallmadge, OH, and classes are held in a group setting with no private in-home or board-and-train services offered.
