Training is structured in three progressive levels. Level I introduces basic cues (sit, stay, come, name game) and manners like loose-leash walking and door etiquette. Level II builds on this with advanced cues (down, off, place, leave it) and deeper behavior modification for minor issues. Level III adds distractions, distance training, and teaches respectful mealtime and kennel behavior, addressing moderate behavioral problems. Each program is customized, with sessions scheduled based on the dog’s pace. Board and train options are available for intensive, immersive training.

Testimonials
Marcela is great with dogs! She used to watch my feisty Pom, Roxy, who would always get so excited when we would pull up to Marcela’s house. It made me feel less pet-parent guilt for going on trips since I knew Roxy was getting well cared for at Marcela’s. I always appreciated how active she is with the dogs, ensuring they get plenty of exercise, and she even said she was even able to train Roxy to run along with her bike like she would do with her other dogs. She would also share photos of the dogs coexisting, which made me so happy that Roxy was comfortable enough with other dogs and just acting like a part of the family. Marcela also took the time to discuss any behavioral issues she noticed and ways to help train/remediate them with me. I would recommend Marcela 100%!

My dog Archie did a board and train with Marcela, and it was a great experience. He was a puppy, so a board and train was a great alternative when we went on a two week vacation. Archie came back to us happy, tired, and well mannered!

It would be hard to find a better pup caregiver! Marcela and Cynthia cared for our yellow lab Emmie many times, we were very impressed by the professionalism and canine expertise. Emmie loved staying with them or staying at our home with Marcela coming by four times a day to care for her. We were so appreciative of her texts and pictures of Emmie on her adventures or walks during the times we were away. xoxox Emmie, Stuart and Leslie

About the Trainer
All My Canine Companions is a dog training business based in Annapolis, Maryland, led by trainer Marcela, who focuses on behavior modification alongside basic training to prevent dogs from being returned to shelters. Marcela offers private, one-on-one lessons tailored to each dog’s temperament, activity level, and specific needs, emphasizing that dogs need more than just cues—they need understanding of behavior. Programs are structured in three progressive levels, starting with foundational cues and loose-leash walking, advancing to mastering distractions and door manners, and culminating in addressing minor to moderate behavioral issues like nipping, counter surfing, and leash reactivity. She also provides board and train services, seminars on dog psychology, and shares practical insights through her blog on topics like senior dog care, winter pet safety, and managing allergies. Marcela is Pet First Aid and CPR certified and works with dogs of all ages, including puppies, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
She prioritizes personalized training, limiting group sizes to one pet parent and one dog, and encourages clients to schedule a consultation before beginning any program to assess goals and environment. Her approach blends positive reinforcement with behavior modification, helping dogs and owners build lasting communication and trust.
In addition to training, Marcela offers pet-sitting and boarding services, as evidenced by testimonials praising her care for dogs while owners are away, including photo updates and active engagement during walks and outings.
Accomplishments
Marcela is Pet First Aid and CPR certified (since February 16, 2013). She has successfully trained shelter dogs like Zoe from BARCS and managed the behavior of senior and reactive dogs, including her own dogs Abby and Zoe. Her blog demonstrates consistent, real-world application of behavior principles over years of hands-on experience.
How to Get Started!
Prospective clients must schedule a consultation prior to beginning any training program. The consultation allows Marcela to assess the dog’s temperament, environment, quirks, and the owner’s goals to create a customized training plan.
