Testimonials
Our 9 month old Mini American Shepherd (“mini-Aussie”) puppy is a wonderful little girl with a heart of gold. She’s a very sensitive, independent thinker and needed a “Goldilocks” trainer who could lead her with a combination of enthusiasm, infinite positivity, patience and a gentle yet respect-worthy presence. Ralph (Allstar Canines) is exactly that trainer. Our girl gets so excited to see Ralph every week and has so much fun learning from him. My wife and I enjoy the lessons just as much. Our puppy (11 months now) is able to go for loose-leash walks, down-stay when other dogs or people pass by and do so more, all of which has boosted her confidence as well as her deep connection to us. We couldn’t be happier to have found Allstar Canines and plan to continue getting advanced lessons from Ralph.

I cannot recommend Allstar Canines Santa Clara highly enough! My dog was being sent out for the first time, and since he’s quite timid and doesn’t usually like to interact with other dogs or people, I was naturally very worried. However, Ralph and Sarah, the owners of the facility, are truly exceptional at caring for and training dogs. The place is spotless and has no unpleasant odors, and the playground is spacious–perfect for the dogs to play and relax freely. Every day, they sent me photos and updates about how my dog was doing, which really put my mind at ease. When I picked him up, he was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional place to look after your dog, All Star Canines Santa Clara is absolutely the best choice!

Ralph was amazing with our dog, Koda. He has a special way of making the dogs feel safe. At our first lesson, I was shocked by the tricks and obedience he got out of my dog. The biggest lesson I learned from Ralph: the dogs know how to do all of this, it’s us owners that need the training.
10/10 would recommend him to everyone!

About the Trainer
All Star Canines is a dog training business based in San Jose, offering personalized training services to help dog owners build strong, confident relationships with their pets. They provide in-home one-on-one sessions, group classes, and board-and-train programs tailored to dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes. Their services include basic and advanced obedience, behavior modification, off-leash e-collar training, and protection training. They specialize in helping Spanish-speaking clients by offering bilingual support to remove language barriers. Their head trainer, Ralph Frescas Jr., brings over two decades of hands-on experience rooted in personal life experiences with dogs, including rehabilitating trauma-affected dogs and surviving cancer with the support of his own dog, Chula. Sarah, his partner, supports training with over 10 years of dog boarding and daycare experience, ensuring dogs receive consistent care and enrichment. The team uses balanced, evidence-based methods combining positive reinforcement and operant conditioning, avoiding one-size-fits-all approaches.
They also operate a full-service dog daycare and boarding facility, offering daily walks, feeding, baths, and enrichment activities. Clients receive regular updates and photos during boarding, and the facility is described as clean, spacious, and odor-free. All Star Canines helps dogs overcome issues like leash pulling, reactivity, separation anxiety, jumping, and poor recall, with many clients reporting dramatic improvements in behavior and confidence.
Their training philosophy centers on the belief that dogs are healers and companions, and that owners often need guidance as much as their dogs do. They emphasize trust, communication, and real-world results, helping families create lasting bonds with their pets.
Accomplishments
Ralph Frescas Jr. has over 2,000 hours of hands-on training experience and successfully trained over 100 dogs and families. He and his dog Munieca earned certification on January 15, 2022, in obedience, protection, and behavior foundations. His training philosophy is deeply influenced by his personal journey surviving cancer with the support of his dog Chula and rehabilitating injured, traumatized dogs.
