Karen is a NePoPo® Certified Trainer, Licensed E-Collar Trainer, and AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator with over 21 years of dog training experience. She specializes in family dog obedience, behavior modification, and service dog training for mobility, PTSD, autism, hearing, and medical alerts. Training is offered in-home and through day training programs, with a focus on building trust, confidence, and clear communication between dogs and their owners. Karen also runs Heart and Soul Dog Breeding Inc., ethically breeding Golden Retrievers for her Hero Service Dog Program, which provides fully trained service dogs at no cost to First Responders and Healthcare Providers. She integrates puppy jump-start training and pet emergency education into her services, ensuring dogs are prepared from an early age.

Her training philosophy emphasizes structure, understanding, and positive reinforcement with the use of e-collars when appropriate, making her approach balanced. She supports clients with lifelong follow-up training and education for service dog teams.

She is a certified Pet Emergency Education Instructor, C-BARQ and APET Temperament Tester, and completed the Puppy Culture Program. She holds a BSN, RN, and CRN with ACLS/BLS instructor credentials and has trained dogs for over 21 years.

How to Get Started!

Prospective clients can book training sessions through the online bookings system. For the Hero Service Dog Program, eligible First Responders and Healthcare Providers must apply to be matched with a trained Golden Retriever. Initial consultations are available to assess needs and determine the best training path.
