Training begins with a free consultation and evaluation. Clients start with private and semi-private lessons before transitioning to unlimited group classes. Board and train programs involve 14 or 30 days of intensive training at the facility, followed by a 1-hour send-home lesson and ongoing private and group sessions. Behavioral issues are addressed throughout all programs. All clients receive lifetime access to group classes at no extra cost.

Pricing Summary

Basic obedience training costs $800, including 6 private and 3 semi-private classes plus unlimited group classes. Board and train programs are $1,775 for 2 weeks and $2,575 for 4 weeks, with free extension if training isn’t completed. Boarding is $69/night with training or $50/night without. Payment plans available for classes. All programs include lifetime group class access.

Policies

Boarding requires current vaccination records (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella); dogs without them will not be accepted. Full boarding payment is due at drop-off. Pick-up after 9:30am incurs a $25 daily charge. No holiday boarding available. Board and train dogs must bring their own food. Training programs require commitment to scheduled classes; rescheduling is handled via text but not guaranteed.

American Dog School, owned by Tami Carrasco since 1992, is a dog training business based in Fort Collins, Colorado, focused on helping dog owners build a positive, obedient relationship with their pets. Tami offers private and group obedience classes, board and train programs, and boarding services, all centered on the belief that no dog is untrainable. Accomplishments

Tami Carrasco has been voted “Best of Fort Collins Dog Training” for 2009–2014 and 2020–2024, and won the 2019 LocalBest Pet Training award. She has been a Canine Good Citizen evaluator since 1994 and has helped students earn Companion Dog, Companion Dog Excellent, Schutzhund, and UKC/AKC Conformation titles. She has trained service dogs, disc dogs, dock dogs, tracking dogs, and 4-H competition dogs. Her personal dogs have won titles in bird trials and coon hunts.
