We are so happy we found Jessica! Our Belgian Malinois puppy has been in need of some obedience training to help with his reactivity and being scared of random objects, and after only a few sessions we have noticed a huge difference! Jessica knows what she is doing, and truly cares about all the dogs and gets excited when seeing progress, it’s also a bonus for us that she is familiar with this breed and has worked with them for years! Amstel K9 LLC is a woman-owned dog training business founded and operated by Jessica Fry, a trainer with over 30 years of experience working with horses and working breed dogs, particularly Malinois and German Shepherds. Jessica has trained and rehabilitated hundreds of dogs, including difficult cases from rescue, and has mentored under a trainer with 45+ years of experience in working dog sports. She offers group obedience classes, specialized training groups in nosework and personal protection, and private sessions tailored to obedience, behavior modification, and sport training. Amstel K9 operates from a dedicated 17-acre fenced Training & Event Center in Perry, MI, with an indoor arena for inclement weather, and provides training for reactive, fearful, and anxious dogs. Jessica’s deep understanding of breed genetics and behavior, combined with her background in Malinois rescue and K9 certification, makes her uniquely qualified to work with high-drive and challenging dogs.

The business supports ethical breeders and rescue organizations, and Jessica currently trains her own Malinois and Dutch Shepherd in competition disciplines including nosework, dock diving, and Mondioring. Amstel K9 also hosts seminars and events for the community, such as tracking/mantrailing and WDA routines, and rents its facility for dog sports trials and events.

Accomplishments

Jessica Fry has over 30 years of experience training horses and working dogs, assisted in rehabilitating and placing over 50 Malinois through rescue, mentored under a 45-year veteran trainer, and has trained and certified local police K9s. She has competed with her Malinois in UKC dock diving and nosework, and her Dutch Shepherd has competed in protection tournaments and is training for Mondioring Brevet. She has also trained as a decoy for personal protection and ringsport.
