Testimonials
Six stars if that was allowed. This must be one of the most professionally operated dog schools in the country. If you are lucky enough to live in NYC, then you must use them. I’m a veterinarian and have been repeatedly impressed with the skills, knowledge sets, and experience of the trainers – probably a hundred years collectively and they all are in constant touch with each other. They operate by the highest ethical standards and are honest with clients regarding expectations for their dogs. The sad truth is that millions of dogs are given up to shelters (or worse) every year due to behavior and social problems that could have been prevented by early and proper training and socialization. Go pro and end up with a happier and healthier pup.

We recently got a new puppy… and have LOVED working with Andrea Arden… Hannah (she is honestly the best human. Our dog LOVES her and she is so supportive). Puppy play group is by far the most important and amazing thing you can do… We are sad our pup has outgrown (graduated?) puppy play-time.

Puppies are really challenging and it’s so important to do ALL the training while they’re young so you set them up to be stellar dogs for the rest of their lives. Anyways, I would give them more stars if I could but unfortunately you cannot. We love Andrea Arden Dog Training!

About the Trainer
Andrea Arden Dog Training is a professional dog training business based in New York City, founded by Andrea Arden, a pioneer in positive reinforcement training with over 30 years of experience. The business offers a comprehensive range of training services including group classes, private lessons, virtual training, puppy day school, puppy and small dog play groups, agility training, and board-and-train programs. They specialize in positive, reward-based methods that build motivation and strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners. Their team includes certified trainers with decades of combined experience, many of whom are authors, media experts, and leaders in the dog training industry. They were among the first in NYC to introduce puppy group training and play groups, and they emphasize early socialization and behavior prevention to reduce future issues. They also provide educational resources including books, handouts, and media appearances to support dog owners beyond training sessions.
They serve clients in Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut, as well as Los Angeles. Their classes are held at multiple locations including New York Dog Spa, Beasty Feast, and Muddy Paws. They offer in-home private lessons and virtual training for added convenience. Their programs are designed for puppies, adolescents, and adult dogs, with special focus on small dogs, separation anxiety, leash reactivity, and basic manners.
The business is known for its ethical standards, professional team, and commitment to science-based, humane training. They do not use e-collars, pinch collars, or aversive tools, and instead rely on food, toys, praise, and environmental rewards. They also provide guidance on nutrition, grooming, and behavior management through their resources and certified instructors.
