About the Trainer
Max Birnbaum is a professional dog trainer with over 15 years of experience, originally based in Los Angeles and now serving the greater Salt Lake City area and Utah County under Happy Trails Dog Training. He began his career as an animal care attendant at K9s Only, progressed to head trainer at their Tarzana facility, and has trained dogs for celebrities including Chris Pratt, Kaley Cuoco, and Melanie Griffith. Max offers behaviorally-focused private sessions and programs that emphasize relationship-based education, helping owners understand their dog’s mind, history, and breed-specific needs. He specializes in pinpointing genetic and conditioned behaviors to tailor training at each dog’s pace using appropriate methods.
Max transitioned to Utah in fall 2024 to focus on Happy Trails Dog Training, bringing his extensive background in private lessons, group classes, boarding and training programs, and re-homing evaluations. His approach is grounded in years of working with diverse dogs, including rescues and high-profile clients, ensuring personalized, compassionate guidance for every dog and owner.
