Testimonials

“My 15+ year old dog (60 lb. boxer/bulldog) has been swimming at Aqua Dog twice a week, for almost a year now. It has been so so helpful for his arthritis and mobility and he absolutely LOVES it! Miss Holli and Mr. John are amazing!! Miss Holli is so knowledgeable and has lots of helpful tips. I’m so glad we found them! I HIGHLY recommend!!”

“I first brought my dog Gina to Aqua Dog a little less than 3 years ago as she had injured her back and wasn’t able to jump up on the furniture. I expected the physical improvement that came, but I wasn’t expecting what the swimming would do for Gina’s personality. She is a much more confident dog than she was before. I now bring both of my dogs for weekly therapy. Holli is wonderful with the dogs. Abbie and Gina love Holli and start barking excitedly as soon as they realize we are going to see her. If your dog needs therapy, I highly recommend Aqua Dog.”

“In October of 2020, my 9-year-old boxer tore her ACL. The vet said she wasn’t a good candidate for surgery due to her age and the arthritis in her spine. I learned about Aqua Dog. My dog started swimming 2 days a week with Holli. The progress she made was remarkable. She gained mobility, was able to put weight on her paw again and even take daily walks. Holli was instrumental in my dog’s recovery. Holli is very knowledgeable and offered nutritional tips as well. I will forever be grateful to Holli for giving my dog a better quality of life.”

About the Trainer

Aqua Dog, Inc. is a private dog rehabilitation facility in Schaumburg, Illinois, offering warm water swim therapy for dogs with arthritis, hip dysplasia, ACL tears, spinal issues, post-surgical recovery, and obesity. Founded by Holli Berger, who developed the program after successfully rehabilitating her own Labrador with a spinal stroke, the service provides one-on-one, appointment-only swim sessions in a heated 12×20 in-ground pool. Each session includes 30 minutes of supervised swimming and 15 minutes of dry time, with personalized pacing, gentle massage, and emotional support tailored to each dog’s physical and psychological needs. Holli is certified by The Association of Canine Water Therapy, trained in Canine CPR/First Aid, and a member of The International Association of Massage and Bodywork. Dogs of all ages — from puppies to seniors — benefit from low-impact exercise that improves mobility, reduces pain, builds muscle, and enhances overall well-being. Many clients are referred by veterinarians, while others seek alternative therapy for fitness or enjoyment. The facility is not a traditional dog training center but provides therapeutic rehabilitation that supports behavioral and physical recovery.

Holli’s approach is compassionate and individualized, with no group sessions or shared pool time. She works closely with owners to track progress and offers nutritional and care advice. The environment is calm, private, and focused entirely on the dog’s comfort and healing.

While not a conventional dog trainer, Aqua Dog’s therapy supports behavior modification through improved physical health, reduced pain-induced reactivity, and increased confidence in dogs recovering from injury or illness.

Accomplishments

Holli Berger is certified by The Association of Canine Water Therapy, completed training in Canine CPR/First Aid, and is an active member of The International Association of Massage and Bodywork. She has worked with over 30 dogs during her certification and has helped hundreds of dogs regain mobility and quality of life since founding Aqua Dog in 2011.
