Testimonials
Unprofessional, unresponsive (after taking a $1000 payment) and unreliable! Complete waste of time! And I’ve already read the company’s replies to bad reviews so before you try to say I’m not a real client… I personally spoke with the owner Frank about my concerns, was told he will call me back after making sure everything was “kosher” and never heard back. So if you’re reading this Frank (owner) and Dyese (“trainer”) … you KNOW this is a real review and I’m a real client.

Shock collar hasn’t worked. Our dog in fact developed some aggressive tendencies she did not have before going. We’re paying for new training to help break this. Had tried reach out post doing a 4 week overnight program but after a few texts they just stopped responding. We mainly sent her away to learn to walk better on a leash but we didn’t see the fruits of that.

They leave dogs in vehicles outside hotels when traveling. Hotel was pet friendly and they could have took it in. They slept for who knows how long and left the dog out in the freezing cold for at least three hours. Ridiculous.

About the Trainer
Best Friend’s Dog Training is a dog training business founded in 1999 by Frank Bonomo, offering personalized training services to dog owners in multiple states. They specialize in obedience training, puppy kindergarten, in-home training, board and train programs, and group classes. Their unique “One Price for the Life of Your Dog” package allows unlimited access to group classes and ongoing training support until the dog masters the skills, with no time limits. They train all breeds—small to giant, fearful to aggressive—and emphasize teaching owners the “why” behind training techniques. Services include housebreaking, leash training, behavior modification, and socialization. They also offer free in-home evaluations and require trainers to be proficient in multiple methods including clicker, leash-based, and remote collar training. Additional services include pet boarding, home-based boarding, and annual dog picnics and holiday parties for clients. Their team of certified trainers works across multiple locations to accommodate client schedules.
They serve clients in Nassau County, Suffolk County, New York City, Queens, Richmond VA, Arlington and Northern VA, Maryland, New Jersey, and Florida (Tampa, Pasco, Pinellas, Naples). They provide both in-home and facility-based training, with group classes held in Long Island and Queens. Their programs are designed for dogs of all ages and temperaments, with a focus on real-world distraction training and owner education.
They do not use yelling or physical punishment; instead, they rely on praise, low-level attention-getting techniques, and positive reinforcement strategies. Clients can continue training indefinitely through their lifetime membership program, which includes access to video classroom content, forums, and community events.
They also offer therapy dog training and have trained over 6,000 dogs since 1999.
