Blue Ridge K-9 Training Center offers a Puppy K Class for puppies 10 weeks to 5 months old, instructed by Pat Sutton and Judy Richardson. This class runs for 4 consecutive weeks on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30. They also offer a Basic Class for dogs older than 5 months, instructed by Randy Sutton, which runs for 8 consecutive weeks on Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30.
Beyond these foundational classes, many additional classes are offered, with options discussed during the beginner class. The center prepares dogs and owners for competition in various trials, specializing in Obedience, Scent Work, and Rally Obedience. They also host a full venue of C-Wags Trials at their facility.

Pricing Summary
Puppy K Class costs $100 for 4 weeks, with a $25 registration check required by mail and the remaining $75 due on the first night of class. The Basic Class costs $125 for 8 weeks, with a $25 registration check required by mail and the remaining $100 due on the first night of class. Only cash or check payments are accepted; credit cards are not.

About the Trainer
Blue Ridge K-9 Training Center is a dog training business dedicated to helping owners build solid, trusting relationships with their dogs. The center was built and opened in 1988 by Randy and Pat Sutton, and has been operating for over 35 years. They specialize in show training for Obedience, Scent Work, and Rally Obedience, with many students competing in trials at various levels.
The training standard at Blue Ridge K-9 Training Center is positive reinforcement. They offer a full venue of C-Wags Trials at their facility. The facility itself is divided into two rooms, allowing two classes to be conducted simultaneously, and features rubber matted floors, ample parking, and a shaded potty area.
The instructor team includes Randy Sutton, Pat Sutton, and Judy Richardson. Randy has over 50 years of experience training horses, cattle, and dogs, and is a Licensed C-Wags Judge and AKC Judge. Pat has been the Lead Instructor since 1988, is a show ring veteran with numerous titles, and is a Charter Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and The National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. Judy has been teaching with Pat and Randy for 25 years and is approved to judge C-WAGS Obedience, Rally, and Games.
Accomplishments
Randy Sutton has over 50 years of experience training horses, cattle, and dogs, and co-built and opened the Dog Training Center in 1988. He is a Licensed C-Wags Judge for all levels of Obedience, Rally, Games, and Scentwork, and a Licensed AKC Judge in Scentwork and Farm Dog Venues.
Pat Sutton has been the Lead Instructor at the Training Center since its opening in 1988. She is a show ring veteran in Obedience, Rally, and Scent Venues, holding numerous titles and awards, including the AKC Utility Title with her German Shepherd, Kelly. Pat is a Charter Member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and The National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors.
Judy Richardson has been teaching with Pat and Randy for 25 years. She has been a dog handler since age 10, competing from Junior handler in conformation to achieving the AKC Utility title in obedience. Judy is approved to judge all levels of C-WAGS Obedience, Rally, and Games.
How to Get Started!
To get started, clients need to complete the top and bottom right sections of the registration form, which can be downloaded from the website. A check for $25 must be included when mailing the registration form. The remaining balance is due on the first night of class. Clients are also required to bring their dog’s veterinarian vaccination records with them on the first night of class.
