Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
Bluegrass Dog Training offers group classes, private lessons, and training day camp. Group classes are 6-week sessions, costing $229, and are held in their climate-controlled training center. These classes cover a wide range of topics from beginner obedience and puppy training to advanced skills for competition sports like agility, barn hunt, rally, and obedience.
Private lessons provide one-on-one training with a trainer to address specific goals or problem behaviors. The process begins with a consultation and assessment to determine the best course of action and match the client with the most suitable trainer from their team.
Training Day Camp is a 5-week program where dogs attend one day per week. During their camp day, dogs rotate through small, carefully selected play groups, customized training sessions, and rest times in their kennels. The camp curriculum is tailored to improve obedience commands, impulse control, and attention around distractions, and also includes puppy foundation skills and performance sport training. Dogs must be dog-friendly and previously crate-trained, and families are required to practice homework assignments for 5-10 minutes daily between camp sessions.
