Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
Private Handler Training programs are designed to help dogs achieve training goals in the comfort of their home. They cover advanced commands, obedience, leash training, recall, and behavior modification for issues like barking and jumping.
At-Home Dog Training is a dog-focused service for dogs who have already started training (Board & Train or Private Handler session). Trainers work directly with the dog in the home to reinforce and progress obedience skills like Sit, Down, Stay, Recall, Impulse Control, Leash Training, Door Manners, Leave It/Drop It.
Board & Train camps (7, 14, or 21 days) offer hands-on training and socialization, with 90 minutes of training per day, 4 walks, playtime, and trainer interaction. Camps are limited to three trainees for personalized care, and dogs live and train in an environment replicating a Chicago apartment. Post-camp private training for handlers is highly recommended.
Dog Aggression Management (Deference Training) is an at-home program to address and manage aggressive behaviors. It focuses on identifying triggers, techniques to reduce aggression, safe socialization, and creating a calm home environment.
Puppy Handler Training is for puppies aged two to six months, focusing on essential skills like basic commands, housebreaking, crate training, socialization, and preventing common puppy behaviors like nipping, chewing, and jumping. Online training sessions are also available for 30 minutes and can be purchased in packages.

Testimonials
“Ty has been a great trainer for my poodle and yorkie. The biggest thing for me now is that they actually respond and follow my commands. It was the most difficult thing to get Max (the yorkie) to listen to me while going on walks, which is his most favorite thing to do in the world.”
– Michael P.
“Ty is fantastic! We adopted an adorable 8 months old pup Maya and were having with potty training and wanted the pup to learn some basic commands. We were going on a 3 week trip, and boarded Maya with Ty. We came back to a happy healthy dog who was SO much better than when we left. We have a small baby at home, so unfortunately once we took Maya home, we fell off with training and a few things regressed. We booked Ty for a follow up appointment, when he came to our house and showed us simple techniques to get Maya back on track. We have wowed to be more diligent and have been following Ty’s advice – and honestly it’s like we have a different dog. Ty is kind, uses reward based training, and Maya loved him! I also called around a few other places that does long term boarding at a trainer’s home, and Ty’s prices were the most competitive! Absolutely recommend him !”

About the Trainer
At Bow Wow Behavioral, dog training is about building a relationship grounded in trust and communication. Founded in 2018 and based in Chicago, the business has spent seven years helping dogs and their families thrive. Their approach involves meeting dogs where they are and guiding them through positive, enriching experiences that shape behavior and build lasting understanding.
The training philosophy is centered around positive reinforcement, using motivation and engagement rather than fear or force. They utilize what dogs love, such as treats, toys, or walks, to make training feel like play. These rewarding experiences evolve into structured concepts for clear communication, mutual respect, and lasting success.
Bow Wow Behavioral is a tight-knit team of three dedicated trainers and a trusted team of boarders who care for and socialize canine clients. Their programs, including Board & Train camps and private handler coaching, are built on years of hands-on experience. They focus on helping dogs and people grow together, whether navigating behavioral challenges or seeking a more peaceful walk.
