Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Equipment:

  • Clickers

Brilliant Pup offers one-hour initial consultations where they collect a dog’s history, set realistic training goals, and create an initial training and management plan. Environmental management plans are crucial for success while dogs learn new behaviors. They may also recommend other venues for practicing skills, such as local group classes with trusted trainers.

Follow-up lessons focus on learning and practicing new skills. The training approach emphasizes understanding canine behavior, creating management plans to reduce unwanted behaviors, and developing training plans for desired behaviors. For example, recall training starts indoors with generous food rewards to teach the dog to come when called.

About the Trainer

Brilliant Pup Behavior offers enlightened training for humans and dogs, specializing in helping owners and their dogs understand each other and work together as partners. They utilize positive reinforcement and force-free training methods, based on the latest behavioral science and canine cognitive studies.

The business helps clients understand their dog’s behavior, create management plans to reduce unwanted behaviors, and develop training plans for desired behaviors. As a certified Family Dog Mediator, the trainer helps clients understand the ethological basis for their dog’s behavior and meet their innate needs while also accounting for human needs. They also recommend and sell long lines for off-leash recall training.
