Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Positive Reinforcement Only
Brooks Canine Training Service offers several training programs. In-home dog training provides instruction at your residence, addressing unique behavioral problems and covering basic on-leash to advanced off-leash obedience.
Residency training allows your dog to stay with the trainer for 5 to 10 days for basic on-leash obedience or 21 days for advanced off-leash. These board and train programs teach commands like Sit, Heel, Down, Come, and Place, with built-in stays and proofing around distractions.
Upland hunting dog training is a complete program for pointing breeds, typically taking three months. It covers basic obedience, steadiness to wing and shot, stopping to flush, and backing/honoring other dogs. Behavioral consultations are also available, along with specialized services for hunting dogs like trained retrieve and field obedience.
Testimonials
“I have known Mark Brooks for almost 10 years. He stepped in to help us when our Roxie was a puppy, and his work with her was nothing short of amazing. In three weeks time he turned a stubborn Scottie with an attitude into an enthusiastic participant in all aspects of training. The fact that she would (and still does) respond to both verbal and hand signals was an especially nice touch! Five years later when we adopted our second Scottie, Cyrano (pronounced si’ran-o), calling on Mark was a given. He also provided “brush up” for Roxie at the same time, which was very helpful. Caesar Milan has nothing on Mark Brooks. In our world, he is quite simply, the best!”

About the Trainer
Brooks Canine Training Service, LLC is owned and operated by Mark Brooks, a certified professional dog trainer. Mark had a passion with dogs from a very early age, beginning with working beagles and coonhounds with his father, then training and competing with pointing dogs in AKC hunt tests and field trials. Mark graduated from the renowned National K-9 School for Dog Trainers and was an instructor there, teaching students globally to become professional dog trainers.
In 2000, Mark started Brooks Canine Training Service, LLC. He has extensive experience in various dog disciplines, including obedience, police canine work (bite work, criminal apprehension, scent detection), physical assistance, and search and rescue. His current focus is on obedience training and pointing dog training for hunting and competition.
Brooks Canine Training Service offers complete dog training for all breeds, dedicated to providing the best training available. They help solve common behavioral problems like barking, jumping, destructive chewing, and housebreaking. For sporting dogs, they offer programs to start puppies, finish dogs, and solve field problems.
The service provides one-on-one training focused on you and your dog, with lessons arranged around your schedule. They offer in-home obedience training where they travel to your residence to address unique behavioral issues, with programs ranging from basic on-leash to advanced off-leash obedience.
Residency training is also available, where your dog stays with them for 5 to 10 days for basic on-leash obedience or 21 days for advanced off-leash. These board and train programs are ideal for owners lacking time or patience, teaching commands like Sit, Heel, Down, Come, and Place, with built-in stays and proofing around distractions.
For upland hunting dogs, they provide gun dog training for all pointing breeds and ages. This comprehensive program takes a dog from initial exposure to birds and gunfire to being steady to wing and shot, stopping to flush, and backing/honoring other dogs, typically taking three months. Additional services for hunting dogs include addressing behavioral problems like gun shyness and teaching trained retrieves using humane methods, as well as field obedience with voice and whistle commands. All training uses humane and positive reinforcement methods.
