Tuesday Tutorial is a 3-week review class for prior students. Special events include “Intro to Sheepherding” at the farm and virtual canine conditioning. All programs emphasize owner education and consistent reinforcement. The school’s historic Intensive Training Experience (ITE) program, now discontinued, pioneered owner-trainer collaboration.

Testimonials

Staff are amazing with the dogs and are incredibly loving. Call of the Wild is great for training and boarding. We trained our dog there after we got him and they taught him how to sit, come, and got him to be more calm when he sees other dogs. They do solo training or group training sessions with you and your dog, so you can have an active part in training your dog yourself!

They are also great for boarding. We put my French bulldog there every time we go on vacation and he absolutely loves it/looks forward to going! He comes home exhausted from how much playing he did. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good boarding place for dogs, especially for extended boarding. Our dog loves the staff and the staff loves our dog! We are obsessed with our dog and very protective, but we trust the COTW staff wholeheartedly with our baby!

We just completed the “Basic Obedience” class with our 2-year-old border-collie-mix rescue who had spent all of his life in various pounds and shelters, had had zero training, and was bordering on feral. After 8 weeks of Basic Obedience, people at the dog park are so impressed by his obedience (especially recall) that they ask me where we trained him.

We are now doing the next 8 week “Super Basic” obedience class, and plan on completing all the obedience classes offered at Call of the Wild. Our dog absolute adores going to class. We have a much better relationship with him since he has been in school.

We tried many other dog training services with our former dog, and wish we had known about Call of the Wild. While other trainers were clearly gifted with dogs, they did not have a systematic approach for teaching dog owners how to train and interact with their dogs. Call of the Wild uses a basic set of training methods, which each class builds on, and the focus is really showing *you* how to be consistent and effective with your training.

About the Trainer

Call of the Wild School for Dogs, founded by Jennifer Boznos in 1992, offers personalized dog training services at her farm in Hampshire, IL. Jennifer provides one-on-one private lessons and group classes focused on obedience, behavior modification, and specialized skills like sheepherding. The training emphasizes understanding dog behavior through body language, aerobic exercise, and olfactory stimulation, with a strong focus on teaching owners how to communicate effectively with their dogs. The facility includes a working farm with sheep, border collies, and livestock guardian dogs, offering unique environments for training and special events like “Intro to Sheepherding.” In addition to training, they offer dog boarding and daycare services, with clients reporting that dogs return exhausted and happy after stays. Jennifer’s approach combines positive reinforcement with structured, consistent methods rooted in “The Third Way” training philosophy.

Clients appreciate the systematic, owner-focused curriculum that builds skills progressively across classes, from Basic Obedience to Canine Good Citizen Prep. The farm setting provides real-world distractions to help dogs generalize behaviors, and special events like “Front Camp” offer immersive weekend training experiences. The team includes experienced dogs who serve as demo and trial dogs, reinforcing the school’s hands-on, professional standards.

Accomplishments

Jennifer Boznos has been a certified CPDT-KA for over 20 years and is a Master Trainer in Chris Bach’s “The Third Way” method. She competes nationally in USBCHA sheepdog trials with her border collies, having worked sheep in Scotland and at major U.S. trials. She studied under Dr. Raymond Coppinger, Sue Sternberg, and Suzanne Clothier, and trained with national sheepherding champions. Her dogs hold records for Canine Good Citizen testing and have competed at the highest levels of obedience and herding.
