Canine Behavioral Services Inc. offers a variety of training programs. The Basic Manners Puppy Workshop, available in two levels (BASIC & PLUS), is a 14-day Board & Train program for pups 8-18 weeks old, covering foundational behaviors like housebreaking, crate training, mouthing, name association, leash acclimation, and positive socialization. The Canine Manners Camp is a 2-week Board & Train for dog-friendly dogs with mild issues such as jumping, leash pulling, hyper-arousal, and attention-seeking behaviors, focusing on “Auto-Sit,” loose-leash walking, and reliable recall.

The Canine Behavior Training (CBT) program, offered in two levels (CBT1 & CBT2) lasting 3-4 weeks, addresses moderate to severe behavioral issues, including most aggression cases and those with a bite history. This program incorporates Public Exposure Training (PET Sessions) and leverages Social Facilitation and Allelomimetic Behavior to teach dogs to choose correct behaviors independently. The Pack Cohesion Therapy Program (PCT) is designed for multi-dog households experiencing behavioral issues or aggression between dogs, with two levels (PCT1 & PCT2) that involve individual and joint Board & Train periods to foster a cohesive bond. The Littermate Syndrome Treatment Plan is a custom-designed program for sibling littermates, combining individual Canine Behavior Training with Pack Cohesion Therapy over an extended period (up to 120 days).

Private Session Training includes Behavior Consultations for assessment, Puppy Starter sessions for foundational puppy behaviors (8-18 weeks), and Single-Session Problem Solving for mild issues in older dogs. All Board & Train programs include re-home sessions, follow-up sleepovers, and unlimited support for the life of the dog. Additionally, they offer Canine SleepOvers (social boarding) with optional add-on training and grooming, and DayTraining Camp which focuses on foundational training, positive socialization, and socially facilitated learning for dog-friendly dogs aged 6 months and older.

Testimonials

“I’ve been working with Kevin for a bit with my dogs over excitement and jumping on people. He has turned such over excited dog into a dog who listens. I can take her to work now and she stays right by my side. I also take her to my grandchildren’s ball games and she stays right next to me. She may be happy to see everyone but one word and she sits. It’s amazing how good she is. The first time I had to call Kevin to tell him how excited I was about how well she behaved, I was so proud of her. I think it was more difficult to train me than my dog but Kevin is very understating and patient. He truly takes pride in what he does and is excellent at what he does. I’m so glad we found him and would highly recommend him to anyone. You won’t be disappointed. My dog even knows when we’re going to his facility she wakes up in car and gets so excited to see him. I’ve been working”

“Hi Brian and the entire team at CBS. We want to thank you for the amazing behavioral training services you provided to Lucy G. Our Lucy is a 4 year old Schnauzer/Poodle rescue we adopted with some aggression issues. Brian and his dedicated team worked with Lucy during the month of board and train and has continued to provide excellent advice based on observations made during the in-home sessions. Lucy is doing great during our loose leash walks in the neighborhood, at parks and on rainy days at Lowe’s. She trots into her crate at bedtime without any prompting. She is doing well on recall command and will improve as we devote more time to this training. Lucy is a work in progress, and we understand that greater improvements will come in time. We are in no rush as Lucy is a loveable little girl and worth the time. We plan to use CBS for boarding whenever possible so that Lucy can continue to grow and learn as part of the pack. We know we can rely on Brian, Laura, Thomas and the entire CBS team to help us with any issues that may arise in the future. Thank you for all you do to enrich pet’s lives. Marcia & Wayne G.”

“I’ve been thinking on this review for a few days, and it is still hard to put into words the peace (and peace of mind!) that working with Brian, Laura, and the CBS team has brought to our home over the last few months. Josie (4 year old Beagle) was struggling with anxiety-related aggression (resource guarding humans, demand barking, and reactivity towards humans and other dogs) when she went into the Level 2 training program. She’s been anxious since she was rescued at 4 months, and we’ve been working on reactivity over the last 2-3 years. I had to stand up every time someone walked into a room I was sitting in, or she would lunge/bark/snarl at people — it had me constantly on guard for potential triggers, which had just become a way of life for us. We worked with other behavioral trainers in the past and our vet, and it improved partially, but Josie’s stay at CBS has been an absolute game changer. She is calmer and more secure in herself at baseline, and we’ve learned counter conditioning strategies that have her EXCITED when someone walks into a room towards me. We have learned so much in a short period of time — Brian’s observations about our dog’s personality in particular, overarching principles that help us to work out solutions on our own, and how to stand up for our dog and help her feel safe in a world she felt very unsafe in before CBS. As a result, her behavior has improved substantially, we’ve all gained confidence, and we’re enjoying our time together even more! There are still things we’re working on, but I’m optimistic for the first time in years. In terms of the customer service aspect of CBS: Laura was so responsive and generous with her time talking to us about the program and all the little details I had questions about, and Brian was thorough and a great teacher with incredible insight, such care and humor when pointing out where I was making assumptions that were unhelpful, and also very responsive via email. Super cute update pictures, thanks to the trainers who capture the dogs in action! If you’re worried about leaving your dog with people you don’t know, I can assure you that these folks are DOG PEOPLE. They want what’s best for your dog and act accordingly. Thank you to Brian, Laura, and the rest of the CBS team who have helped Josie — we’re incredibly grateful.”
