Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Positive Reinforcement Only

Canine Champs Dog Training offers personal one-on-one sessions and group classes. Personal sessions provide individualized help for specific behaviors or for dogs not yet ready for a group environment, focusing on basic commands and leash techniques to prepare for advanced group classes.

Group classes offer supervised socialization, confidence building, and training in a high-distraction environment. These classes help dogs learn to listen to commands amidst distractions, practice AKC Rally drills, mimic Good Canine obedience tests, and engage in fun activities.

A comprehensive Training Package is available, which includes four 1-hour one-on-one sessions and twelve 1-hour group classes. This package is recommended for new clients after an evaluation to provide both personalized attention and group socialization and behavior proofing.

Testimonials

“Before coming to Canine Champs Zeus pulled on the leash, was really energetic in the house, and I really didn’t know how to start training him correctly aside from sit. After literally 10 minutes with Juan, Zeus walked right next to me with little to no tension on the leash. He has since learned so much more than I could have taught him by watching YouTube videos and trying myself. He is now an absolute joy in the house, when company is over, and as excited as I am to continue training. Juan doesn’t only teach you how to train your dog, he also teaches you how to read your dog. It gives you more of a connection to your pet. I am so thankful that I found him. I drive an hour each way to training but it is 100% worth it. If you want your dog trained by not only a good trainer, but a good man, don’t look any further! Excited to keep working with him and everyone at Canine Champs!”
– Will and Zeus

“Dog training is a very important part of dog ownership that we often overlook. Too many times, we allow our dogs to get away with so much more than our kids are allowed. These dogs will in turn dictate how a certain situation will be handled. As a responsible pet owner, we need to be able to direct our beloved canines, and guide them to act in an appropriate manner. This allows them to interact in a social environment, and it allows the owner to handle situations at home.I have been sending clients to Juan for several years. He has taken dogs that would run their parent’s lives, and taught the parents how to control a situation and interact with the dog. He has also taken dogs that lacked social skills and taught the owners how to properly socialize them. I have even sent my own children to him with their new puppies. We are very fortunate to have Juan in this area to train our dogs and especially their owners.”

Accomplishments

Canine Champs Dog Training has over 10 years of experience in dog training. The founder and trainer, Juan Mendez, is an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator. The business is also vet recommended.

How to Get Started!

To begin, clients must schedule an evaluation, which is a required meet and greet to determine the dog’s behavioral needs and ensure a good fit. Dogs must be vaccinated (a minimum of 3 days) before the evaluation.

After reserving a spot, clients will receive an email confirmation and a link to an evaluation form, which must be completed before the appointment can be accepted. Payment for the evaluation is required upfront to reserve the spot. After the evaluation, if both parties agree to proceed, clients can choose from one-on-one sessions, group classes, or a training package. All training packages require an evaluation and dogs must be up to date on vaccinations, including Bordatella.
