Canine Companion Consulting offers a variety of services including private, personalized training, group classes, and remote training, all designed with the dog and owner in mind.

Private, Personalized Training can occur in their training studio, which provides a private, low-distraction, climate-controlled indoor space and a large, secure, fenced outdoor area, or “out and about” in public settings, or remotely via video calls. These sessions target individual goals at the client’s pace and include two well-educated and certified Canine Behavior Consultants, a behavior consultation report amended after every session, and ongoing support between appointments.

Group Classes are limited to a maximum of 6 dogs (unless otherwise stated) and are managed by up to two experienced trainers to ensure individual attention. Classes offered include:
* **Canine Training – Beginners:** A 6-week class for dogs of all ages, covering focus, attention, loose leash walking, polite greetings, sit/down stay, coming when called, leave it, drop it, and go to bed/mat. It also includes “Principles of Dog Training” and exposure to novel stimuli.
* **Canine Training – Intermediate:** A 6-week class for dogs that know the basics, designed to advance skills and prepare for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test and therapy dog work.
* **Mind, Body, Nose:** A 5-week hybrid class focusing on confidence, focus, recall, stay, agility equipment, and scenting, requiring no prior experience.
* **Agility For Fun:** A 6-week introduction to agility, building focus and motivation, and introducing obstacles.
* **Drop-In Agility:** A one-hour session for graduates of ‘Agility for Fun’ to practice on the course with limited instruction.
* **Happy Handling:** A 6-week program teaching dogs to accept or enjoy handling for medical exams, grooming, nail trims, shots, blood draws, and muzzle training.
* **Recall & Impulse Control:** A 5-week class to improve attention, listening, and prevent impulsive behaviors like chasing or stealing.
* **Therapy Dog Training:** A 7-week class for pre-approved dogs working towards certification.
* **Pups in the Park (Puppy Primer, Polite & Focused Dog, Dogs on the Move):** A series of 2-week classes covering puppy behavior (house/crate training, mouthing, socialization), basic manners (attention, focus, not jumping, sit, down, place, stay), and leash skills (loose leash walking, recall).
* **From Exuberant to Polite Pup:** A 3-week class for dogs that are overly enthusiastic in greetings, teaching impulse control, leash walking, polite greetings, stay, and attention.
* **Doggie See, Doggie Do!:** A 6-class program teaching dogs to copy human behaviors, limited to 4 dogs.
* **Loose Leash Walking:** A 2-week class focusing on preventing leash pulling.
* **Rocket Recall:** A 4-week class to achieve a strong “come when called,” limited to 6 dogs.
* **Mastering Door Behavior:** A 4-week class teaching polite greetings at the door, including Sit-Stay, Down-stay, “Go To Your Mat,” and not jumping, limited to 5 dogs.

Separation Anxiety Training is offered remotely and is considered the “Gold Standard” for this issue. It involves a systematic, almost daily protocol based on the individual dog’s needs, with weekly Zoom meetings and individualized homework. The program emphasizes preventing the dog from being left alone longer than comfortable during training and includes unlimited support via phone, email, or text.

About the Trainer

Canine Companion Consulting is a premier, full-service canine training team based in Fort Collins, Colorado, serving Northern Colorado and offering remote training worldwide. The business is owned and operated by Beth and Wayne, a husband and wife team, who have been training dogs since 2007 using positive, research-based methods. They focus on training the human to better understand and modify their dog’s behavior.

A unique advantage is that clients get two trainers for the price of one, as Beth and Wayne attend most remote, group, and private sessions together. After every private session, clients receive an individualized canine consultation report summarizing key points, which can also be shared with other pet professionals involved in the dog’s care with consent. The trainers are highly responsive, offering follow-up support via email, text, or phone, and are available days, evenings, and weekends.

They offer a variety of services including private, personalized sessions in their training studio or out-and-about, group classes with small sizes (up to 6 dogs) for individual attention, and remote training for convenience and reduced stress. Their core values emphasize humane treatment of animals, continuous education for both humans and canines, and being present to help clients build better relationships with their dogs. They assist with a wide range of behaviors from basic obedience to complex issues like fear, anxiety, aggression, and separation anxiety.
