They provide private lessons and Board and Train options. Private lessons involve owners directly in the training process, teaching them how to train and reinforce skills in various environments. Board and Train services are available for all clients, with Karen Kroyer serving as the primary trainer for these programs.
Programs cover basic pet obedience, competitive obedience, and various dog sports including IPO, French Ring, MondioRing, Nosework, Agility, Disc, and Dock Diving. Canine Headquarters, Inc. is a comprehensive dog training facility situated on six shaded acres northeast of Austin in Hutto, Texas. Established in 2005 by Dave and Karen Kroyer, the business was founded to meet the demand for effective, customized training programs.
They offer results-oriented custom training and behavior modification programs, which are tailored to the individual dog’s temperament and drives, as well as the owner’s specific needs and goals. Their training methods are grounded in scientifically proven principles of canine behavior, aiming to equip owners with the necessary tools for clear communication and effective motivation.
Canine Headquarters is actively involved with local rescue groups and shelters, providing straightforward, practical, and effective methods for dealing with and managing issues such as aggression, separation anxiety, and fear in dogs. They cater to a diverse clientele, from those seeking basic pet obedience to individuals aiming for high-level competition.
Accomplishments
Dave Kroyer, Head Trainer and Owner, possesses over 20 years of experience in handling, training, and coaching across various disciplines including IPO (Schutzhund), Ring Sport, Police K9, AKC Obedience, Agility, SAR, and AKC Tracking. He is a UKC Nosework Judge and is recognized as a “TRAINER OF TRAINERS” globally for his innovative ideas and problem-solving approach. His competitive achievements include multiple World Championship appearances, National and Regional podium placements, serving as USA Team Captain for the WUSV World Championship (2014), Texas South Central Region IPO3 Champion (2014), USMRA MondioRing World Team Member (2013, 2012), AWDF FCI World Team Member (2012, 2011, 2007, 2006), USMRA MR1 Vice Champion (2009), AWDF Vice Champion and GSD Breed Champion (2006), SCR IPO3 Champion (2007, 2005, 2006), SCR FH Champion (2003), and WUSV World Team Member (2005, 2003, 2002).
Karen Kroyer has 16 years of experience in dog training, teaching, competing, and titling, following a 20-year career as a Social Worker. She is also a UKC Nosework Judge and actively plans, organizes, and competes in nosework trials. Karen currently trains, competes, and titles in Agility, Disc, Nosework, IPO, Mondioring, and Dock Diving. Her accomplishments with her personal dogs include IPO Tracking 1-3, AD, FH Champion, AX, AXJ, UKC Elite Nosework, NA, NAJ, NF, IPO3, and participation in the AKC Eukanuba Agility Invitational. She is also the founder of San Gabriel Dock Divers.
