Canine Resolution

Canine Resolution offers several training programs. The Puppy Group Class is a six-week course for puppies 10 to 24 weeks of age, focusing on social skills, motor skills, foundation obedience (sit, down, stay, come, leash walking), and behavior modification for common puppy issues like chewing, mouthing, jumping, and housebreaking. Proof of up-to-date DHPP vaccines and a negative fecal test are required.

Private Lessons provide individualized training with a Canine Resolution Coach, allowing both the human and dog to progress at their own pace. The initial lesson is an orientation to assess the dog, discuss goals, and design a tailored training plan. Subsequent sessions teach new behaviors through explanation, demonstration, and practice. This service is exclusively for non-aggressive dogs.

Boarding with Training is an intensive program where dogs reside in the trainer’s home for the duration needed to achieve training objectives. Training occurs in various environments, including the trainer’s residence, training facility, yard, neighborhood, parks, and stores, to ensure real-world preparedness. This program focuses on reliable obedience and addressing behavioral issues, including on and off-leash scenarios. It includes weekly private lessons for owners to reinforce the skills taught. This program accommodates dogs of all breeds and ages, but not all dogs qualify.

The Graduate Group Class is a four-week program exclusively for dogs and owners who have completed Canine Resolution’s private lesson packages. Participants reinforce previously learned skills and learn new on and off-leash exercises. These classes are conducted both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. An invitation from a coach is required for enrollment.

Pricing Summary

Puppy group classes are $250.00 for a six-week course. Graduate group classes are $150.00 for a four-week class. Private lessons are available à la carte or as discounted packages of four or eight lessons. Fees for boarding with training are variable, determined by the individual needs of the dog and the length of their stay. Discounts are provided for seniors, military personnel, and first responders.

Policies

Deposits for puppy classes are non-refundable. Space for boarding with training is limited, and reservations are necessary. Private lessons are exclusively for non-aggressive dogs. Canine Resolution boasts over three decades of experience in pet obedience and competitive training. Marc, the training director, has been training dogs professionally full-time since 1990. Both Marc and Carrie are among only five TWC Training Without Conflict™ certified dog trainers in Michigan, having successfully completed Ivan Balabanov’s comprehensive course. Ivan Balabanov is a 16-time national and two-time world IGP champion.

Marc is also an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator (CGC) and STAR Puppy Evaluator, a certified graduate of a 4-year dog obedience/behavior, kennel management, and dog grooming apprentice program. He is an AKC exhibitor in obedience, earning high scoring titles with his and clients’ dogs, and an IGP exhibitor, earning high in trial and high obedience at the IGP 3 level. Marc serves as a temperament evaluator and dog trainer for local animal shelters and rescue centers. Howard has been training dogs for over 30 years and with Canine Resolution for over 20 years, attending seminars across the USA.

How to Get Started!

To begin, clients can fill out a training inquiry form for general questions or if their dog exhibits behavioral concerns like aggression, fear, nervousness, or anxiety. Canine Resolution will then contact them to determine the most suitable program.

For Marc’s Boarding with Training program, the process involves a complimentary phone consultation to discuss goals and determine if the dog is a good candidate. If deemed a good match, an email will be sent to schedule an in-person evaluation. During this assessment, Marc explores the dog’s behavior, explains his training approach, and if a mutual fit is determined, the board-and-train program is scheduled.

For private lessons, the initial step is an orientation session where the trainer meets the client and dog, assesses the dog, discusses objectives, explores problematic behaviors, introduces training principles, and designs a tailored plan.
