Testimonials
When we applied to this program we heard nothing but phenomenal things about the team and the program itself. They offer to help train your own puppy or let you adopt one of their pups to train yourself and your new best friend to become a certified service dog.
I am myself a disabled veteran and we were accepted into the program over a year ago. We kept up with a rigorous training program that help our pup become a better listener and stronger at performing tasks that are required for the certification.
The staff we met were amazing and Chloe, our trainer, was always ready to help and answer any questions. She went above and beyond for us in the program. She stayed late, came in on non-training days and was always there for us when we needed her.

About the Trainer
Canines With a Cause (CWAC) is a nonprofit organization that provides free, personalized service dog training for veterans with PTSD, TBI, and MST. They pair rescued dogs with veterans and guide them through a comprehensive 300-hour training program across six levels and five tests to achieve full certification. Training is based on positive reinforcement methods and focuses on building a strong, healthy bond between the veteran and their dog. CWAC also offers free community dog training classes on Tuesday evenings for rescue dog owners in Utah with behavior or training needs. Their trainers are certified professionals with deep experience in service dog training and mental health support.
The organization operates from a training center in Holladay, UT, and serves veterans and dog owners across Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Morgan, Summit, Wasatch, Utah, and Tooele counties. They also run foster programs to prepare dogs for placement and have partnered with prisons to train dogs alongside inmates. CWAC does not offer grooming, boarding, or pet sitting services, but supports dog owners through training, resources, and community events.
Veterans can adopt a dog from CWAC or use their own dog if it meets program criteria. The program is entirely free for veterans, funded by donations and sponsorships.
