Dog Training Methodology

Methods: 

  • Balanced Training

Basic Obedience Group Class: Introduction to dog obedience in a family-friendly, social environment. Students learn sit, down, stay, come, and loose leash walking. Classes are up to ten dogs for six one-hour sessions. Minimum age is 12 weeks, no maximum. Vaccinations required.

Intermediate Obedience/CGC® Group Class: Expands on basic obedience skills and prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen® certification. Emphasizes working through distractions and real-world application. Prerequisite is basic obedience or equivalent. Up to ten dogs for six one-hour sessions. Vaccinations required.

Beginners Agility Group Class: Fun dog sport focusing on speed and accuracy through an obstacle course. Teaches motivation over, around, and through agility obstacles. No prerequisites. Up to ten dogs for six one-hour sessions. Vaccinations required.

Private Lessons: Suitable for entire families, solving behavior problems, teaching advanced obedience, or training young puppies. Can be scheduled at their locations or in your home for flexibility.

Board & Train Programs: In-kennel programs for those with limited time or needing extra help. Dogs receive three training sessions per day. The Four-Week program teaches basic on-leash commands (sit, down, stay, come, loose leash) and includes a bath and private lesson. The Five-Week program teaches on and off-leash commands (sit, down, stay, heel, come) and includes a bath, three private lessons, and open invitation to group obedience classes. Short-Term, Refresher & Evaluation Programs are available for shorter boarding periods.

Protection & Sport Group Class: Meets Saturdays at 3:00pm year-round. Open to dogs of all ages and training levels. Focuses on developing grips, building confidence, obedience, and biting scenarios. Beneficial for personal protection, sport, security, and law enforcement dogs.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Group classes are priced at $120 per dog for six one-hour sessions. Private lessons at their locations are $60 per hour, with prepaid packages available: six lessons for $300, or ten lessons for $480. In-home private lessons require contacting them for pricing, with packages offering six lessons for the price of five, or ten for the price of eight.

Board & Train programs include a four-week program for $1400 and a five-week program for $2000. Short-term, refresher, and evaluation programs are $60-65 per day, depending on duration. Long-term and specialty programs require contacting them for pricing. The Protection & Sport Group Class is $20 per dog per class.

Capitol Canine Services was established in 1999 by Ethan Hall. Ethan is a graduate of the Canine Academy for Dog Trainers where he earned the certifications: Pro-Trainer, Advanced Pro-Trainer and Police K9 Trainer.
