Testimonials

“We were referred to Bryan and Cascadia Canine Training School by our vet. We adopted a lab/pit puppy and although he gets a lot of love and attention from his people, his dog brother (11 years old) wants nothing to do with him. The Dog Day School has been a great way of socializing the pup with other dogs. He comes home exhausted from a day of play and basic skills like crate training.”
-Gina

“Wow. Just, wow. Bryan and the Cascadia Canine Training team absolutely changed our lives! My partner and I have a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd… who was terribly anxious around people… After ONE LESSON, Auckie was a brand new dog.”
-Sydney

“After 6 sessions with Bryan, the training results were great and Walter now gets frequent compliments on his good behavior. Bryan’s commitment to dogs and training show with his lifetime support when enrolling in his training program.”

About the Trainer

Cascadia Canine Training School is a dog training business serving Central Oregon since 2007, offering personalized private lessons and an intensive Day School program in a safe, distraction-free facility. They specialize in balanced training methods that emphasize compliance without reliance on food bribes, drawing from techniques used by military, police, and guide dog programs. Their Day School provides 3-week, Monday–Friday on-leash obedience training with included exercise, socialization, and playtime, ideal for owners with limited time. Private lessons cover basic obedience, reactivity, leash walking, recall, and e-collar training, with packages tailored to puppy, adolescent, and adult dogs. They also offer group agility classes for dogs 1 year and older. The business is owned and operated by Bryan Castleberry, a trainer with over 35 years of experience working with elite working dogs and founding Cascadia Canine in 2007. In-home training is no longer offered, and all training occurs at their permanent facility in Bend, OR.

They do not use treat-based training as a long-term solution, instead focusing on building respect and leadership through clear communication and consistent corrections. Their programs are designed to help owners become confident leaders, not just trainers, and they offer a single group lesson at the end of Day School to teach owners how to maintain their dog’s progress at home.

Additional services include dog daycare, boarding, and evaluation/testing for Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. They do not offer grooming, walking, or pet sitting.

All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations, and dogs exhibiting aggression toward humans or other dogs are not eligible for group classes. Day School requires a dog evaluation and has a cutoff age of 9 months for intact dogs.

Puppy training begins at 6 months, not 16 weeks as stated in the initial description, and agility training begins at 1 year.

They provide e-collar training as a temporary tool to build recall and correct behavior, emphasizing trust over fear.

No in-home training is currently available.

They offer a free evaluation for $75 to determine program eligibility.

Accomplishments

Bryan Castleberry has over 35 years of experience training dogs, including working with elite Military Working Dogs in the USAF, training under Rick Hughes at Hollywood Dog Training School (where Lassie and Rin Tin Tin were trained), and serving as head trainer at Frostfire Kennels and Canyon View Training Ranch. He founded Cascadia Canine Training School in 2007 and pioneered free-range boarding and daycare in Oregon.

How to Get Started!

Prospective clients must contact the school via phone or email to schedule a $75 evaluation to determine program eligibility. After evaluation, clients can enroll in Day School, private lessons, or group classes. Day School requires dogs to be at least 6 months old and have completed the evaluation.
