Testimonials
“In just five weeks with our 4-month-old boxer, Poppy, Cathy has worked wonders. We’ve established a consistent routine, mastered crate training, and Poppy now confidently executes basic commands like sit, stay, and come. She’s become a super social dog! Cathy doesn’t just teach commands; she empowers you as the owner to take the lead.”

“Cathy has been wonderful to work with. Our 1 year old dog Jack was afraid of noises and going outside, and with Cathy’s guidance he is able to walk around the neighborhood with little to no trouble and is overall much less fearful and more confident.”

“We turned our unruly, reactive Boxer into a well-mannered dog. Cathy’s techniques are gentle and firm—no shock or prong collars. She helped us see that our lack of structure was causing the behavior. 100% recommend!!”

About the Trainer
Cathy’s Canines Dog Training is a Phoenix-based dog training service led by Cathy, a trainer with over 30 years of experience. She offers personalized, in-home training and group socials designed to build trust and correct behavior using gentle, non-aversive methods that focus on body language and a slip leash—no e-collars, clickers, or treats. Cathy emphasizes becoming the calm pack leader to help dogs feel secure and behave with manners. Her services include basic manners training for puppies and adult dogs, board-and-train programs, and weekly socials for small dogs, puppies, and medium/large dogs. She also provides extras like nail trimming, teeth cleaning, and leash sales. Cathy’s approach is rooted in understanding dog psychology and helping owners build lasting, respectful relationships with their pets.
She specializes in behavior modification for fearful, reactive, or rescued dogs, as demonstrated by her successful rehabilitation of Marley, a traumatized three-legged terrier mix now living permanently with her. Her clients report dramatic improvements in leash walking, house manners, reactivity, fearfulness, and overall confidence in their dogs.
Cathy’s training is tailored to individual needs, whether the dog is a high-energy Saint Bernard, a fearful rescue, or a multi-dog household. She maintains strong client relationships through follow-up texts, photos, and ongoing support, making her a trusted partner in dog ownership.
Accomplishments
Cathy has successfully rehabilitated severely fearful and abused dogs, including Marley (now Molly), a three-legged terrier mix rescued from trauma. She has helped clients overcome extreme behavioral issues such as house soiling, coprophagia, fear-based snapping, and leash reactivity. Her clients credit her with transforming their dogs’ lives and restoring peace to their homes.
