Dog Training Methodology

Equipment:

  • Food Rewards
  • Flat Collars

Central Bark offers a variety of training formats including private lessons, group classes, seminars, and clinics. Private lessons are highly customized and thorough, ideal for beginners or those addressing specific issues, typically lasting a half hour per dog.

Group/shared lessons are a more economical option for dogs with some experience, providing two work sessions with breaks, allowing handlers to observe and learn from others. Group classes are one-hour sessions for up to five dog-and-human teams, typically held weekly, focusing on expanding knowledge of Barn Hunt rules and strategy. Clinics are topic-based learning experiences that can range from a few hours to a full day, designed to drill into specific skills, problem-solving, strategy, or sport introduction.

Pricing & Policies

Pricing Summary

Private lessons in 2024 are $40 per half hour, typically suitable for one dog. Group classes start at $150 for 6-week sessions. Herding lessons are priced at $80 per hour. Pricing for seminars and clinics varies depending on the specific activity.

Central Bark Canine Events accepts cash, check, and PayPal (to info@central-bark.biz). Canadian funds are only accepted via Money Order. All fees include an 8% NYS sales tax. Bounced checks will incur a penalty in addition to the full payment.

Policies

Clients must provide an up-to-date rabies vaccination record before attending any lessons or classes. For private lessons, a 48-hour notice is preferred for cancellations to allow the spot to be offered to another client. If a last-minute cancellation occurs, clients must text (315) 558-3959. Students with a history of no-call/no-show for private lessons may be removed from future scheduling.

Group classes and herding lessons are prepaid and have their own specific policies regarding missed lessons. Central Bark Canine Events is a performance event center and does not specialize in dogs with social or training challenges; they recommend seeking a behavioral specialist for such issues before pursuing dog sports.

About the Trainer

Central Bark Canine Events, LLC is a canine performance event center located in Central New York. They specialize in offering training and trialing opportunities for dog sports, primarily Barn Hunt, but also cover aspects of agility, obedience, rally, retriever events, and herding.

The business is owned by Eva Fowler, a second-generation dog trainer with over 25 years of experience in dog sports. She enjoys helping dog and human teams develop into strong partnerships. Eva has been actively involved in teaching, competing, and offering Barn Hunt events since 2014.

Central Bark aims to provide a unique and fun environment for learning and competition. In addition to Eva, the center collaborates with other experienced trainers, judges, and clinicians to enhance their educational offerings and ring availability.

Accomplishments

The business is led by Eva Fowler, a second-generation dog trainer. She has over 25 years of experience in training, handling, and competing in various dog sports, including agility, obedience, rally, retriever events, herding, and barn hunt. Eva has been teaching, competing, and offering Barn Hunt events since 2014.

How to Get Started!

To begin, dog owners are encouraged to research Barn Hunt online, including watching videos, to determine if the sport is a good fit for them and their dog. The initial step is to schedule a private lesson with a trainer. This one-on-one session helps assess the dog’s interest and suitability for group formats.

Private lessons can be scheduled by emailing Eva at info@central-bark.biz or by using the contact form on the website. Once a dog demonstrates keen interest in an introductory private lesson, they can then progress to group classes. As the dog and handler team advances, they can further explore specific training solutions through seminars and clinics.
