Central Oregon Sporting Dog is committed to specialized training programs based on age and breed, focusing on quality by limiting the number of dogs taken at one time. They guarantee that dogs will learn every aspect outlined in their chosen program.
Programs offered include:
The Puppy Head Start Program (ages 4-6 months, 4 weeks) focuses on bird exposure using homing pigeons, basic obedience, and building a confident, outgoing pup.
The Pointing Dog Program (ages 6 months-1 year, 8 weeks) covers commands like Here, Whoa, Whistles, instinctive pointing, steady to wing, heel, quarter on command, gun introduction, and encouraged instinctive retrieving.
The Flusher/Retriever Gun Dog Program (ages 6 months-1 year, 8 weeks) includes Here, Sit, Whistles, Flush, Hand signals, Heel, Quarter on command, Gun introduction, and encouraged instinctive retrieving.
The Conditioned Retrieve program (6-8 weeks) teaches dogs to retrieve to hand, especially those who do not retrieve instinctively, and is often a prerequisite for the Advanced Retriever program.
The Advanced Retriever Program (8 weeks) builds on foundational training with advanced hand signals and whistles, controlled retrieves, baseball diamond retrieves, distance retrieves, back retrieves, from the blind retrieves, and steady to the gun.
A Four-Week Training option is available for dogs needing work on specific problem areas or with some prior training.
Private Training Sessions offer guidance for owners who train their own dogs.

Testimonials
“As a professional dog trainer and guide from Alaska I would highly recommend Tim Curry for dog training, guided hunts and kennel care. Tim is well organized, patient, caring and an efficient and effective trainer of which I would trust any of my dogs to be in his care and training program. I have known Tim for about five years and have had great days in the field shooting over his highly trained pointing and retrieving gun dogs.”

About the Trainer
Central Oregon Sporting Dog is a professional dog training and breeding business founded and owned by Tim Curry, who has over 25 years of experience. Tim specializes in training Pointers and Flushers to be top producers in the field, having trained the majority of hunting dogs in Central Oregon and beyond. His passion for dogs and wingshooting is exceptional, and he has experience as a Wingshooting Manager at two of the nation’s top wingshooting destinations.
The Curry Family is renowned throughout the Pacific Northwest for the quality of their German Shorthaired Pointers, Labrador Retrievers, and English Cocker Spaniels. These dogs are bred for their outstanding Field Champion Bloodlines, intelligence, athleticism, and ability to produce birds. Central Oregon Sporting Dog was also endorsed by Orvis as outstanding Breeders and Trainers of fine quality bird dogs.
The business offers specialized training programs tailored to a dog’s age and breed, focusing on quality over quantity by keeping the number of training dogs at a minimum.
