Dog Training Methodology

Methods:

  • Balanced Training

Equipment:

  • leash
  • choke-chain

Beginning Dog Training is a basic class teaching commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and heel. It also includes lectures on topics like being the “alpha” (leader), stopping jumping up, chewing, grooming tips, and food guidelines. This class is on-leash only for dogs over 16 weeks and includes a 6 ft. leather leash and choke chain collar.

Advanced Training Classes are designed to help owners gain better off-leash control of their dogs, working on beginner commands off-leash and adding new drills for precision and immediate response. Both Beginning and Advanced classes consist of 6 sessions, each lasting 45-60 minutes. Classes are taught with humor and anecdotes, alongside a serious, no-nonsense approach to ensure owners are in charge of their dogs. The trainer expects dogs and owners to respond without argument the first time they are told, using instant and appropriate corrections without anger or yelling.

Testimonials

“Charlotte not only trains the dogs, she also trains the people and makes it a positive experience. Charlotte has the patience to teach us how to train our dogs.”
– Doug Pimm

“Charlotte’s own dogs are the proof of her ability. Her dogs are a pleasure to know and to love.”
– Sherri Russell ~ DVM

“Charlotte’s training is a “must” for every dog owner – we learned exactly what we needed to know about our dogs and our relationship with them in order to have them be a wonderful, well-adjusted part of our family. Even our most difficult strays that we adopted responded beautifully to her training. As the result, we are very capable dog-owners, and our dogs are so happy and well behaved. We couldn’t have done it without her!”
– Tom & Leslie Dunn
