Chesapeake Dog Training offers individualized programs to meet diverse needs. The Board & Train program is an intensive and immersive option, ideal for owners with limited time or dogs needing focused behavior resolution. It covers basic obedience to a high level, emphasizing state of mind training, socialization, and exposure to various environments. Packages are available for 1 or 2 weeks, including boarding, one-on-one training, and follow-up lessons.

Private Lessons are flexible, offered at their Annapolis facility, in clients’ homes, parks, or via virtual platforms like Google Meets and WhatsApp. Custom packages combining on-site and in-home lessons are available. A specialized private lesson package is offered for Puppy Training to support puppies through their first year. Nosework & Scentwork lessons, led by instructor Lindy Burkhart, focus on developing a dog’s sense of smell for fun and sport, with packages for both introductory and advanced levels. Pack Walks are free group events designed to help dogs practice leash manners in proximity to other dogs.

Testimonials

“Wow! We are astounded with Chesapeake Dog Training. Linda has been a blessing to work with. Her knowledge of dogs and their behavior is amazing. We have seen wonderful results in just a short period of time with her. She is kind, friendly, helpful, supportive, and so much more. We cannot say enough great things about Chesapeake Dog Training and Linda! If you are deciding on a dog trainer, I would highly recommend Chesapeake Dog Training. We have had a few poor experiences with other training facilities, but I have no doubt that all of the trainers at Chesapeake Dog Training would be great choices!”
– Leah

“We took our 2 dogs here for basic training with Paula. She was fantastic and the facility was great. She helped us teach our dogs the basics and also had great tips on dealing with quirks like some of our younger dogs anxiety issues. Highly recommend for your dog training needs!”

About the Trainer

Chesapeake Dog Training, LLC is a dog training business established in 2009, dedicated to connecting people and dogs through training. They are described as hardworking, creative, and passionate about training, people, and dogs, aiming to help owners better understand and communicate with their pets.

They offer a variety of individualized services, including intensive Board & Train programs, flexible Private Lessons (on-site, in-home, or virtual), specialized Puppy Training, engaging Nosework & Scentwork, and community Pack Walks. Accomplishments

Linda Stallings, the owner of Chesapeake Dog Training, possesses over 25 years of experience in the animal behavior industry. Her extensive background includes a 12-year tenure at The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, where she trained and cared for exotic animals such as rhinos, zebras, and cheetahs, and founded the Behavior and Training team. She also worked at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, focusing on animal behavior and medical care. Linda’s expertise has led to speaking engagements at regional and national conferences, publications in industry journals, and appearances on National Geographic and Discovery Channel. She holds a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Delaware and is a Karen Pryor Academy Puppy Start Right Graduate and an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.

The company, established in 2009, has significantly grown, including a period of consulting with the SPCA of Anne Arundel County to develop training and socialization programs for difficult-to-adopt shelter dogs. In 2015, they developed their Board & Train program. While their Millersville indoor facility (opened in 2019) has since closed, during its operation, Paula Blair successfully launched a Puppy Program that assisted over 400 puppies, and Lindy Burkhart created a Nosework and Scentwork program that honed the skills of hundreds of dog/owner pairs.
