Dog Training Methodology
Methods:
- ✓ Balanced Training
The training process at Club Canine follows “The Thinking Dog System” in three simple steps. The first step is a Training & Behavioral Consultation, a 2+hour working session conducted in the client’s home, involving all family members to build a team. This consultation educates owners on canine communication, understanding and fostering desirable behaviors, structured management, and introduces foundational exercises, techniques, and vocabulary for improved communication and control.
Following the consultation, clients progress to a series of detailed Private Lessons focused on building focus and attention. These lessons begin at the client’s home and then move to a local park or the Club Canine facility, with the progression tailored to the dog’s and owner’s needs. The goal is to enhance skills and confidence while gradually introducing more distractions and environmental pressure.
Once the handler and dog have developed the necessary skills, they transition into the Foundations Obedience Group Class. These classes are generally held one night per week and every other Saturday morning at the Club Canine facility.
About the Trainer
Club Canine is Houston’s premiere obedience training facility and original day camp, designed to exercise both mind and body for a well-balanced dog. Their training approach is called “The Thinking Dog System,” which emphasizes confidence building through consistency.
They believe that a dog who learns to make good decisions is a safer, happier, and more enjoyable companion. Club Canine aims to help dog owners learn to become effective leaders for their dogs, fostering the relationship they desire.
How to Get Started!
The first step to begin training with Club Canine is to schedule a Training & Behavioral Consultation. This is a 2+hour working session conducted in the client’s home, designed to involve all family members in building a cohesive team and to introduce foundational exercises and concepts.
