Testimonials

We’ve had our German shepherd puppy (now 8 months old) in classes since he was 4 months old. He is currently taking his 3rd class with the next class scheduled at the end of the month. We’ve had the privilege of having Suzie for all 3 classes thus far. As new dog parents, we’ve learned so much from Suzie (and our dog). The facility is an excellent environment to learn and work in. They don’t just teach you the behavioral stuff in class, they watch your dog too. For example they noticed our pup was pulling pretty hard on a regular collar and recommended a different collar for training. The prices are really great in my opinion compared to other training facilities. They also have a lot of classes to choose from. I just wish there was more weekend classes available!

The staff are informed and take a ‘train the trainer’s approach which I really appreciate. We have attended their puppy course, basic obedience, and tricks training. My pup loves all the things he learns! They’re very helpful and caring trainers who want your pup to succeed and are willing to figure out how they can get there.

Andrea is so caring and attentive to each owner and their dog’s needs! We have been attending class here on Thursday evenings for almost 2 years now. We love how affordable it is to maintain my dogs training and still learn new things! Thanks Club-K9!!

About the Trainer

Club K-9 Training Center is a long-standing dog training facility in Oberlin, Ohio, operating since 2000. They offer group training classes and private consultations using positive reinforcement methods to help dog owners build a stronger bond with their pets. The center provides a wide range of classes including Puppy Kindergarten, Basic and Advanced Obedience, Scent Work, Rally Obedience, Tricks, Agility, Conformation, and Canine Good Citizen testing. Their facility is located indoors at Douds Veterinary Hospital, offering a consistent, controlled environment unlike trainers who meet in parks or offer only kennel-based training. They emphasize teaching owners how to communicate effectively with their dogs, not just training the dog in isolation.

They welcome all dog sizes, breeds, and experience levels, from puppies to seniors, and offer specialty programs for behavior issues, competition training, and trick skills. Their head trainer, Cris Doss, has decades of experience and has successfully trained her own German Shepherd to earn multiple AKC titles, showcasing their methods’ effectiveness. Classes are held weekly for six weeks, with flexible scheduling across weekdays and weekends.

Additional services include private in-center consultations for behavior problems like separation anxiety, aggression, and leash pulling, as well as access to resources for breed selection and local rescue groups. They also offer Canine Conditioning and Fitness classes to support overall dog health.

Accomplishments

Head trainer Cris Doss has trained her 10-month-old German Shepherd, Freyja, to earn multiple AKC titles including CGC, CD, SWN, SCA, SEA, TKN, and TKI. She has been training and showing dogs since a young age and developed the center’s positive reinforcement methods based on her success.
