CM Streek Agility Training Center offers group classes and private lessons focused on dog agility. Group classes include: BEGINNER, for dogs at least six months old with basic obedience skills (come, sit, down, stay) who are new to agility obstacles, focusing on learning individual obstacles. INTERMEDIATE CLASS, for dogs with some basic agility training, able to work off leash and respond to basic obedience commands, emphasizing improving obstacle performance, speed, accuracy, and performing obstacles in sequence.

ADVANCED/MASTERS CLASS, an ongoing class for those desiring to perform at a competitive level, focusing on improving performance and handling through short exercises and full courses under distractions, with one class per month dedicated to agility games. MASTERS/ELITE CLASS, an ongoing class for dogs with an agility title or those with advanced skills who enjoy playing, with continued emphasis on skills from the advanced class, plus improving response and control, obstacle discrimination, performance at a distance, and directional commands.

Private lessons offer one-on-one attention for individual needs or special training problems. The business also provides information on Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing, which is offered by the Tyler Obedience Club of Tyler. The CGC test includes 10 items such as accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, appearance and grooming, walking on a loose lead, walking through a crowd, sit and down on command (staying in place), coming when called, reaction to another dog, reaction to distraction, and supervised separation.

About the Trainer

CM Streek Agility Training Center, Inc. is an East Texas training facility specializing in dog agility. They offer both group training classes and one-on-one private lessons for dogs and their handlers. The sport of agility involves dogs navigating an obstacle course with jumps, tunnels, a seesaw, A-frame, dog walk, and weave poles, directed by their handlers using hand signals and verbal commands.

The goal is to complete the course quickly and accurately, with no two courses being alike, providing continuous challenges. Agility events are sanctioned by organizations like the American Kennel Club (AKC), United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA), and Canine Performance Events (CPE), allowing participants to earn titles, prize money, and awards.

CM Streek Agility Training Center does not offer obedience, rally, or herding training, but refers clients to other local establishments for these services. The instructor, Terry Dyck, has been involved in agility training since 1998, competing since 2001, and instructing since 2006, actively competing and attending seminars to provide up-to-date training. Agility is always emphasized as fun at CM Streek.

Accomplishments

Terry Dyck, the instructor, started her first dog in agility training in 1998, began competing in 2001, and became an agility instructor in 2006. Her first agility dog, Crystal (a Papillon), was a two-time national finalist in USDAA’s Steeplechase national tournament in 2002 and 2003, earning the Agility Dog Champion (ADCH) title in 2004.

Another dog, Wicket (a Border Collie rescue), became a five-time champion, earning USDAA ADCH, BRONZE ADCH, and PERFORMANCE DOG CHAMPION (PDCH) titles with 34 overall USDAA titles, as well as AKC MACH 1 and MACH 2. Terry actively competes in USDAA, AKC, and CPE, and attends seminars with top agility handlers and instructors to stay current.
