COGRC offers a variety of training classes and workshops. The “Intro to Scent Work” is a 90-minute workshop teaching fundamentals for dogs to find scent.
Group classes include “S.T.A.R. Puppy” for puppies 12 months or younger, focusing on basic handling, ownership, and foundational obedience. “Beginning Obedience” covers learning theory, basic manners, and developing a responsible relationship with your dog.
“CGC/Intermediate Obedience” helps dogs reliably perform behaviors in difficult situations, focusing on public behavior, greeting other dogs, and commands with distractions, with an option to test for the Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Certificate. “Advanced Obedience/Trick Dog” is for dogs with CGC or equivalent skills, working on heeling, stays with distractions, recall, and tricks. “Therapy Dog Prep” prepares dogs and handlers for therapy dog certification tests, including field trips for real-world exposure. “Rally” teaches dogs to navigate a course with various skill signs.

Pricing Summary
Workshop: Intro to Scent Work is $45, with audit seats available for $25. S.T.A.R. Puppy, Beginning Obedience, CGC/Intermediate Obedience, Advanced Obedience/Trick Dog, and Rally classes are each $135. Therapy Dog Prep is $150. Payment and vaccine records must be received prior to the first class. After attending one class, students are not eligible for a refund of unattended classes.
Policies
Payment and vaccine records must be received prior to the first class. COGRC reserves the right to adjust the class schedule based on the number of participants, weather events, and club priorities with notice. A maximum of 8 students are allowed per class, and at least 4 students are needed to form a class. For beginner classes, if there are fewer than 4 students, classes may be combined and one time slot dropped. One guest per dog/handler team is invited to watch class. Classes are not for dogs that show aggression towards other dogs or people. After attending one class, students are not eligible for a refund of unattended classes. Required shots include Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Rabies, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza – H3N2/H3N8.
About the Trainer
The Central Oklahoma Golden Retriever Club (COGRC) was established in 1981 by Golden Retriever owners and breeders dedicated to preserving and improving the breed’s positive attributes and promoting participation in various dog activities. While focused on Golden Retrievers, COGRC also offers obedience classes for all breeds.
They provide highly-effective training classes at their facility in Edmond, OK, with instructors who collectively have over 100 years of experience. These instructors are experienced pet owners currently participating in AKC obedience, rally, therapy, conformation, hunt tests, and daily life with their dogs.
COGRC uses positive reinforcement and balanced dog training techniques, with instructors participating in continuing education to stay updated on best practices. They encourage participation in events that perpetuate the natural ability and appearance of the breed and help each dog reach its highest potential.
The club is licensed by AKC to hold specialty shows, obedience trials, and hunting retriever tests, and experienced members offer encouragement and support to novice participants. They also host monthly meetings with speakers, films, and demonstrations, and organize social events like picnics and Christmas parties.
COGRC aims to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Golden Retrievers, uphold the AKC breed standard, and advance the interests of the breed through sportsmanlike competition.

To get started, dog owners can sign up for classes using the online registration form. Payment and vaccine records must be received prior to the first class.
